Need help with optics for Win70

I posted this in the optics forum but not getting any responds...maybe you guys here that actually use optics for competitions can help.

I have a older Mark4, M1 16x with a simple duplex reticle that I want to send to Leupold and have the reticle changed out. I've been told $160 for the reticle but they cannot change out my turrets, so I'm stuck with 1/4" MOA turret. I was running a Vortex PST but that got moved to my Rem700. I know I want some type of ranging ability with it so I narrow it down to the below:

    TMR
    Mil-Dot

Or no ranging and go with a simple:

    SPR

My only issue that I'll end up with a MOA/MIL turret... anyone with experience with running a MOA/MIL scope? Opinion?

    Thanks,

I didn't click on your optics thread since I am not familiar with the Leupold scope you posted.

However, I looked them up. First, as you know, MOA/MIL is not an optimal setup. I'd treat it as basically a standard crosshair and dial based on the approximate size or distance of your target. MOA/MOA or MIL/MIL are much more natural. But if you know the size and distance of your target, it's always easy to dial without even using reticle measurements.

Alternatively, if you aren't shooting that far, I'd just hold and worry less about dialing. If you do this, you want a little bit more complicated reticle with markings to use as reference points for your hold.

I am not good with acrynoms as Leupold seems to have about 100 reticles. But, for the benefit of others to see, I've pulled up what it sounds like you are referring to. I'd go with the SPR as it's got that ring to use as a reference point for holds. My next choice would be the TMR as it looks to be a nice refined reticle that has clear hashmarks and an open center. Then the Mil-Dot, ewwwww--too thick and lack of precise reference points.
