    Ruger M77 Compact Hawkeye

    Guys,

I saw one of this " beautiful " compact rifle. The Ruger M77 Hawkeye with the black laminate stock. I am interested in the .223 chambering(for lower recoil and affordability). Use of the rifle will be more for.........informal range shooting at perhaps 100 yds. maybe 150.

I am not a hardcore rifle shooter, but I want to own one and experience what rifle shooting is all about. I desire accuracy (1.5 inch groupings at 100 yds with off the shelf store bought ammo). I want a nice looking rifle too, don't want too much " tacticool ".

What do you think of this rifle? Is it upgradable later on in case I become proficient? Is it worth upgrading later on??

Budget will be around $550-$700 tops. Pardon the newbie questions as I am used to shooting only 1911s and midsized DA revolver.

    Thanks.

I really like the M77. Upgradable? It's already compact and it's pretty light as is.

I am a Ruger fan and if you like it get it. Yes you can upgrade if you want. I have with some of mine.
That said if you like compact and super shooting consider the Tikka T-3 Lite also.
I have both and to be honest the Tikka is better. But I still like my Rugers so pick what YOU like and what FITS you as well as your budget.
