    308 muzzle break

so i have a 20" threaded barrel and i starting to look for a good muzzle break. im no planning on spending a fat wad of dough for a "suppressor ready" break until i move out of this lame state.

any suggestions for a good break?

My personal favorite is the Griffin Armament 7.62 flash comp. They work great, look great, and don't beat up the ears of people next to you at the range. It's not a true "muzzle brake" but it does combine a number of benefits into one device (flash hider and low concussion muzzle brake).

PWS is also a good choice but honestly the options are insane. Miculek/DPMS, JP, just be aware that people shooting next to you will hate you. (they hate me)

the griffin armament brake looks pretty cool and i really like what the site said about the pws pc.

hammer, ive done that same google search time and time again. i for sure know what i think looks cool and what look i would like to have, but they tend to not have the best performance. more aesthetically pleasing and less functionality. ive been looking at AlumaliteUSA breaks and they have a great look and seem to have really good function, but i dont know anyone who has experience with them. so maybe i should just bite the bullet and try it to pass on the news about it.

I have the Miculik AR 10 type on a few rifles, one of them a T/C Encore in 300 WM that weighs about 6 lbs. It works very well and is inexpensive - about $40.00.

Another vote for Griffin flash comp... I use one on M&P10

Another reasonably priced consideration is Manticore NightBrake... I use one on 5.56 and it works very well... I got one for a lightweight 308 build (because it's only 2oz)... Build is not complete so I haven't used it yet - but I expect it to perform like the AR15 one.

Ross Schuler brake. $45 shipped. Can't beat them at twice the price.

Harrell's Precision muzzle brakes. They work they are built right and no hype. There prices include shipping.
If your after the best at reducing recoil the clamshell brakes are the best.

You need to determine the balance you want between recoil reduction and how loud you can tolerate...

For the money, the Miculik are awesome...

SJC Titan has scored well in all recoil tests and is about $110

here are some bigger ones being tested

Rule 1- ALL GUNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED

Rule 2 -NEVER LET THE MUZZLE COVER ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT PREPARED TO DESTROY (including your hands and legs)

Rule 3 -KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON THE TARGET

Rule 4 -BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET AND WHAT IS BEYOND IT
                              (thanks to Jeff Cooper)
