Marlin 62 in 30 Carbine

Ever posted a low bid on a Gunbroker auction with a week to go figuring you'd get a "you've been outbid notice", then click on to check the new price? Just for fun? I did. And forgot about it until a week later I got the "Congratulations, you've just won" notice on a Marlin 62 in 30 Carbine.

Other than thinking these are neat little guns and will be a good plinker, I know zero about them. I've an Inland M1 Carbine that I don't reload for, a T/C Contender 16" 30 Carbine barrel that I do reload for. I figure this will be a good shooter using cheap FMJ and no reloading, but may also be able to ring some good accuracy out of it with quality reloads. Does anyone have one and can tell me how it shoots, whether it's a PITA to take apart or has any unique challenges to it?

Here is some interesting history to your interesting rifle.

"....This tradition was continued when the Model 62 Levermatic was introduced. However, the Model 62 was a centerfire rifle. To their embarrassment, after about 4,000 Model 62 rifles had been shipped without serial numbers, Marlin belatedly realized that they had been in violation of the law. A recall program was initiated, and owners could return their rifles for serial numbering. Even at the time of this writing, apparently some of the unnumbered centerfire Levermatics have not been returned. Present owners can still contact Marlin for procedures to have their guns numbered...."

I have no personal experience with them though I have fired the similar levermatic guns in 22 rimfire. I'd recommend picking up some magazines for it off eBay as they are still somewhat reasonably priced as time passes I'm sure they will go up in value.

I had an Old Model Blackhawk in 30 Carbine, cases stuck in the darn thing so badly that I had to remove the cylinder and tap out with a dowel. I probably could have polished the chambers but didn't feel like fiddling with it.

Re the Marlin, I got it for $510.00, lower than I see on the ended auctions where folks bought. Mags are only about $20.00 at Numrich Arms, I already have "old stock" Weaver "pivot base" and rings along with a 1960's made Bushnell Scope Chief 2 to 8X with post ready to mount.

My Blackhawk is ammo sensitive as to what types won't stick in the chamber.
