    2000 Yard Help!!!!!!

Well the Facilitator White Mamba and myself shot 2054 yards yesterday and 70 rounds downrange later I never hit a gong or turned on the lights which indicate a hit.
Forgot my shovel and my good ammo at home but the biggest issue was the wind.

White Mamba hit the gong and turned on the lights with his 338 Lapua and his 50 BMG both making him the King Of 2054 Yards.

The Facilitator was smartest of all he dropped off the AR5000 gongs and refused to shoot.

What we really need is a better place to shoot as seeing your bullet splashes is critical.

We have a 2000 yard shoot coming up the first week of may just waiting for an official update.
A huge Thank You to our Facilitator for supplying us with the much need gear.

And because I lost soundly yesterday here is our unofficial king of 2054 yards.
    White Mamba.

Hmm, where's that classic Far Side cartoon where the pitching coach walks out to the mound just you yell ,"Throw Strikes!" and calmly walk away....

For ELR shooting, the best thing to do is drive east until you are in the next state. There are some places not far outside of Vegas that would also be a little more commuter friendly for both NorCal and SoCal people.

I wasn't having a lot of trouble with elevation but the horizontal due to switch winds was killing me.

How many rounds did it take for J. to get on target with the winds?

J had his 50 and his 338 dialed in from a previous trip and made splashes on his first shots. I think it took 10 shots to connect with the 50 and more with the 338 but don't quote me on that.
I put on a MOAB 300 moa base and never got to dial it in. I then switched the base from my 50 to my 338 Norma Mag Improved.
Not trying to make excuses he beat me like a redheaded stepchild with freckles.
I also left my match 800 grain boreriders at home and got stuck using 650 grain full metal jacket loads.
In the world of 50 BMG shooting they are like using wadcutters.
J said you are kind of close so you should stop by and help us lay some lead down. I will probably go back in another week with Billy the Kid.

I'll def make the trip down. Im still waiting on my stock from Manners for my 338LM. Once I get that I'll head down for sure. All I have at the moment for LR is my 7saum, which would be a waste of ammo.

Wait a minute Lynn, the pic in the OP cannot be right. Am I to understand that White Mamba, shooting a Desert Tech in just itty bitty 338 Lapua beat out BIG RED???

                        Wow, just wow!!!

Yes sir BigRed was handicapped with my poor shooting. The biggest handicap however was the ammo. The 650 fmj bullets are ballistically the same as a 142 Sierra in 6.5 mm and I wasn't pushing them very hard.
WhiteMamba was shooting 300's with a much better BC number and similar velocities.
The thing that gets your attention is how J's 50 was all around the target with one box of HSM rounds and when he opened a second box we couldn't spot his hits.
I am gonna see if I can improve the splash areas size and maybe bring a 50 pound sack of flour as well to help us see the splashes easier.
If I can get J or Billy the Kid to help I want to pound some "T" posts 10 feet tall above the gongs to hang some red coloplast onto.
I think a lot of shooters will run out of scope adjustment so this will give them a solid aiming point rather than looking for a rock or tree branch.

Bring that 7SAUM and see what it can do. We got hit by switchy winds both days or we would have done much better. At least I hope we would have.
