I understand 6BR is competition oriented, but its really a standard 243 bullet in different brass.
A standard savage or 700 would do!
Those actions he mentioned are the ones offered in single-shot variations.
If you want a Reminton, look for a 40X single shot receiver.
Savage sells a single shot target action as well.

Wait till next week, probably be a .338 shazam with muffler bearing options.

There's a reason I never bought into the whole 'fad gun of the week' mentality.
Next week it'll be a different caliber and all the phan bois will have to run to guys like me and try and get our attention.
        Pfft, I'm busy, lemme alone.

        I know I have a 6ppc and a 6.5-284 reamer around here somewhere....but hell if I know exactly where.
Prolly take a full day to find them.
Now a 7mm mag or a 340 wby....they are hanging on the peg board right behind my lathe in little custom wooden boxes I make for all my reamers.
        And I don't cut a 7mm or a 340 very often.

I thought the sixties was a battle between the .308 and 30-06 in which the .308 whooped some bootay in competition.

I don't have time to look up cartrige history today but maybe tomorrow.

gotxring.com makes an expensive but functional 6mm BR mag fed stock that fits a 700 action. It's a bit much for a play gun though.

I think Lynn likes the 30WSM for 1k.

The 6BR uses the same action as your 308 and offers you 20+ moa more at 1000 yards.
Once you call the round Benchrest everybody runs for the hills and they shouldn't.
You can turn 308 brass into 6BR brass if you want but most shooters prefer to use brass with the small primer pocket.
The cartridge is so inherently accurate even a bad barrel will work well.
The big 30's have won more matches than anything but in the past 15 years the 6 and 6.5's have taken over.
On the 30's the 300 WSM and 300 Ackley are my two favorites but the 300 WSM gets the nod.

I read a lot about the 6BR not feeding well and this is what I see.
The cartridge is very short so in a staggered feed magazine people push the cartridge all the way to the rear. When you do that the cartridge being short pops out of the magazine and has plenty of room to hang up. You can glue a block into your magazine which prohibits one from setting the cartridges way back.
Center stack magazines seem to not have these issues.
I think shooters think it is taboo to shoot this little cartridge and they are over looking a real gem.
5 grains more powder than a 223 and so far superior it is unbelievable.

Interesting side note; HBO was doing a documentary on the seller and in the meantime solved the West Highland police station shooting that's been, for some reason, confounding the LAPD for years.

When the OP can shoot, 'Up To the Gun', with a Mosin M39 and Russsian Spam Can grade ammo, at 300 yards....then we'll talk.

Just to throw a curve in...

What about a Sharps? 45-120, or one of the big 50's? Those will do 1000 yards no problem.

                        OP
Wanted no recoil great barrel life and accuracy.
I just found a barrel but its 1.450 diameter for 30 inches.
It is chambered in either 6BR or 6 Dasher.
It is available for free to the OP only with 100 empty Lapua cases neck turned and ready to reload.
It is set up for a 700 Remington action but as it is 1.450 diameter it probably came off a heavygun with no recoil lug.
OP you would need to send it to someone for installation if you need to have a recoil lug. I have both reamers on hand but I want those the pilots and gages back after you get it fitted up.
I don't have a source for recontouring barrels anymore but if you get it installed I will send you my load data.
