I'm looking for a compact bolt gun with a 20" barrel. I would like it to have a bull barrel as well, and a 10 round box magazine. Is there any bolt gun like this? Plus any opinions are shorter bolt guns are welcomed. I'm not too seasoned with them so any knowledge would be great. I just saw a picture of one the other day and tried finding one but with no success.

From the factory with a 10 round mag is going to be tough. Remington 700 certainly comes in a 20" bull barrel, and there are several aftermarket magazine conversions that run about $250. You might also check out the Ruger Gunsite Scout model. Other than the barrel profile, might be what you're looking for. Part of the joy of a compact rifle is the lighter weight. The bull barrel sort of defeats that.

I don't know why there are so many 20" bolt rifles these days.
Just about any bolt rifle can be modified for a 20" barrel and 10 round magazine.
Just a few that come in 20" or less with 10 round mags available without modification, and I am sure there are many more:
FNH SPR A5M, 20" available with 10 round magazine
Accuracy International AX and AT, 20" available with 10 round magazine
Sako TRG, 20" available with 10 round magazine
Desert Tech SRS-A1 Covert, 16" available with 10 round magazine
Mossberg MVP LR Tactical, 16.25" available with 10 round magazineComment

Umm.
I have a 18.5" mossberg mvp bull barrel 5.57/.223 that came with a 10 round mag. Hell it'll take ANY AR mag you have.
EDIT:
Shameless plug.
I have it for sale in the wts/tt:

You can also check out the savage scout rifle and the howa 1500. They sell a detachable mag kit, but it has a plastic floor plate.
I'm currently researching for something similar as well. My top 3 picks were the howa 1500 targetmaster (mostly because it's on clearance at turners), ruger GSR, and mossberg mvp patrol. I'm most likely going to go with the MVP, since I want the iron sights and I can't justify the extra price of the GSR given the good ratings for the MVP.
The MVP and the GSR and semi-bull barrels though- I believe the 1500 targetmaster is a full bull, and has a 2-stage trigger from the factory. The ones on clearance should all be 20".Comment

How much are you willing to spend? DTAs are compact due to their bullpup design. http://deserttech.com/guns.htmlComment

Howa 1500. I think I paid a little over 550 for mine with 20 inch bull barrel. It came with a polymer "bottom metal" and one 10 round magazine kit that can be installed.
Haven't installed it yet. The biggest gripe I read about it was that the magazine release lever is in front of the trigger guard which could lead to accidental manipulation while using a sandbag or rest.

Can't forget the steyr scout, 10 round mags are available, it has built in bipod and back up iron sights and I am pretty sure the barrel is 19 inches. weighs 6.6 lbs and can carry a second mag in the butt stock and has adjustable length of pull. Some one with more cal guns website experience can post a picture of one.

That's precisely what I'm looking for. That green is awesome. How do you like it?Howa 1500. I think I paid a little over 550 for mine with 20 inch bull barrel. It came with a polymer "bottom metal" and one 10 round magazine kit that can be installed.

Haven't shot it much but I really like it. I'm not a great precision guy, I bought it to "get in the game" so to speak and wanted something that wasn't going to break the bank but was quality. Stumbled on the howa 1500 in my research. Action is smooth. At least as accurate as I am , which is definitely insulting the rifle in all honesty.
Theres tons of stuff out there about the howa 1500 to watch/research. If you are interested, turners has them and is where I picked mine up. I believe I got their advertised "tactical" package - which included the box magazine conversion kit.Comment
