    Marlin

I am interested in purchasing a marlin 1895 sbl. The link below shows one at Turners.

After a little research, I read that since Remington took over, the marlin lever guns have really gone down hill. I don't know how old this information is, or if Remington has gotten back on track with this line. Does anyone here have any recent experience with this line of lever guns?

If you really want a marlin, find a nice old one. If you don't over pay I will hold its value or appreciate a bit. Here is the forum to be asking your question....http://www.marlinowners.com

I purchased a 45-70 in 2013 that was not too bad. They had been rather hit and miss from 08-10 but they appear to have improved over the years as the most obvious ones with issues have been weeded out. I have several others but they all date from the 1980's and earlier.

I've been looking for an SBL as well but can't justify paying that kind of price.

I hear ya. i like the fact the ammo tube is full length. Most tubes are short and the capacity for a round like that is 4+1

I bought one last year, upgraded the trigger, extractor, removed the safety, added a little leather here and there, and added a Burris Scout scope. I've shot about 50 rounds through it blasting everything from large fruit to solid bricks just to see the destructive power of a 45-70. It's a fun gun to shoot and the recoil is not as bad as I thought it would be. The quality is not bad as I thoroughly checked it out before purchasing, I heard that some of the earlier models had quality issues when Remington took over but those problems were addressed and fixed. It's a beautiful gun and I love mine, but like most things, they come and go and I might be inclined to sell mine because it's now become a safe queen. Here she is!

It takes a lot of balls to play golf the way I do.

yummi... you justified it. That is sweet looking. I'm picking up a new 336w this Friday. Might have to look into some black laminate furniture now.

Thanks, you should hear me ring the 12" gong at 100yds over at Angeles, it's so loud people turn their heads to see who is shooting it, or who brought the cannon, haha.

Have you seen these? I'm hoping they will drop below 2K soon. Then I'm hoping I'll have 2K soon

Its a beautiful rifle from Winchester and Turnbull...

I was one of those that bought a "Remlin". It sucked. Lots of problems. I now have a gun that functions, but isn't perfect. From what I hear they've figured out the problems, but I'll never buy anything from Remington after that.

I do however dig the old Marlins...

In 2011 the quality was really bad. The ones I saw six months ago looked ok. I would definitely reccomend you closely inspect before buying a new one. I think they are past the problem.
RIP Louis Awerbuck. I miss you and your training.
