    Ruger 6.5 creedmoor for $499

    Not bad for the price!

When I unboxed the Predator, I found a skinny little tapered barrel, a light composite stock, and a surprisingly smooth action. I say surprising because there was really nothing remarkable about the rifle other than the action. Admittedly, I did not have high expectations for the predator. It is a deceptively modest gun. Can a rifle that retails for less than $500 makes hits at 1,000 yards?

Its about time Ruger offered a 6.5 creedmoor. That round spanks .308 way past 1000 yards. A 22" is a handy barrel length too. For a bipod-resting target version I'd stick with the Savage 12 LRP through.

Hmm. Might have to pick one of those up. Nice light weight for hunting.

The Ruger American Predator in 6.5 has been out there for close to 2 years.

This has been my most sought after rifle for well over a year just haven't found one in my area. Fondled one in 22-250 and its definitely nice. And how I adore the 6.5

The first generation of the Ruger American were at $300 or so street price after they came out. Hopefully these get down there in a year or so? Be interesting how accurate you could get it.

I wonder how this compares as a range rifle to a t3 lite (at 6.6 lbs, they're not "target rifles," I know). Will the tikka do as well with a hot barrel? I have been wanting something light weight that can double as a decent 600-1000yd rifle... basically I want to have my cake and eat it too.
