Another NOOB question: R700 detachable mags?

I've got an all stock R700 chambered in .308 and it's left handed.

I've seen the H-S Precision and the Badger Ordnance versions.

    What does Calguns recommend?

    Thanks guys!

I have the ptg dbm setup. It's not finished but the quality looks good and plenty of people use them. They run about $120 or so not including a magazine. Then you have to have your stock modified for it. AR15barrels (Randall) will be finishing mine.

HS Precision - you'll have to buy their magazines.

      Badger Ordinance - expensive.

Value wise, and you can use AICS magazines: PTG http://shop.pacifictoolandgauge.com/...oducts_id=1432

      Can't go wrong for $130.

I would probably get PTG after looking into it. But I am still undecided. I might just buy a mini chassis and new stock instead.

Does it have a plastic Remington stock, or is it a model that has an upgraded stock like an HS? If you have the plastic Remington stock, make sure you upgrade the stock and don't try to put a metal bottom on the plastic stock--it's too flimsy and will be waste. (I might be stating the obvious, but just in case...)

I recommend and fit the PTG bottom metals almost every week.
Great quality at a great price compared to ALL other options.

It is the factory plastic stock. It is the SPS Tactical model.

Where are you located? If you are in the bay area, I would recommend Marc at Spartan, he fit mine on my .308 Rem700. I went with the Badger set up, and bought Accurate Mags, which are slightly cheaper than the AI mags.

The inconvenience of poor quality lingers long after the thrill of a good bargain.

Randall does that model require a lot of precise inletting for an HS prec. stock?

Just curious, why? I don't know anything about this setup but I'm interested in getting a detachable mag system for my 700.
