We all have that one gun.

We all have that one gun. It's either the one you learned to shoot with, or that one that makes you "excited" every time you see it. I recently acquired mine. It's not special. It's shiny. It goes bang.

This little pop gun was my dad's. It was the gopher getter. I learned to shoot with it.

Years ago it went out of time. It's double action and just wouldn't work right. Dad had to have it fixed. I contacted many well known SAA shooters about fixing it. Nobody wanted to attempt it. I found a hobby machinist that was in to guns that was willing to take a whirl at it. He made all new internals, lightened the trigger, and just made it friggin fun to shoot again.

Dad had his gun again. But I was still searching for one like it, because it was just neat.

Well. Unfortunately a few months back it became mine.

High Standard Double Nine. .22 caliber. 9 shot. Double action. Nickel plated.

Without a doubt. I've already handed to the kids to shoot. They know who's it was.

Great story, and terrific looking weapon.

Way to do it bro. I have one and it needs some work, too. Single action is fine (some light strikes from time to time) but double action is tough. Mine is not as shiny though

My Series 80 Colt Combat Commander. I bought this new in February 1985 and still own it. Love it and will never part with it:

blessings to your dad... That shiny gun shure is purrdy!!! Excellent gun to learn with! I sold my first gun and my second gun... It was a Glock 21 and a XD9... Well I just bought an XD 45 Compact and will probably pick up a Glock soon as well. wish I still had them but had to pay for school. Education first but I sure miss them. Take care of that baby and pass it to your kids. God bless you and the family
