new 1911 Kimber custom II vs SA A1 loaded??

Here's a short background bough a rock island GI and fell in love with the 1911 wanted to have one that was a little more bells and whistles and leave my GI alone. Went to shootist in murrieta and put a down payment on a kimber custom II gun was $800 can't start DROS till the 7th though so can still change my mind but was also eyeballing a Springfield A1 loaded in stainless for 1k that's about my limit but have some misgivings about the whole Brazilian made thing as I already have an imported 1911 and tend to buy USA made guns by preference but the SA looks soooo nice. Or a sig 1911?Would love to hear some opinions thanks in advance.

I asked my local gunsmith, Jim Hoag, which 1911 to buy as an experienced shooter, wanting to get into 1911s.

He said, "Out of the box, for the money, Kimber."

He also said "You're going to want to rebarrel the cheaper Springfeilds."

And, "Colt's shortcomings are the most well known and so, easiest to fix."

I was suprised, as the interweb gunfighters all slam the Kimber Swartz thing.
But I am saving my pennies for a Kimber.

Well I have a kimber custom II and I've got over 4k through it, it's about 6 years old. And I love it. My favorite handgun. I do with it had a checkered front strap, but other than that its great. The only malfunctions were do to bad gunshow reloads. Would definatly trust it with my life.

Honestly, your choice really comes down to. Do you want a black 1911 or a stainless one? The quality of the gun is about even, you get an ambi safety with the springer.

The Springfield comes with Trijicon night sights, ambi-safety, and has a series 70 type firing system (no firing pin safety). Kimber's have a Swartz firing pin safety, standard sights, and a standard safety.

            Springfield's have a lifetime warranty, Kimber's have a 1 year warranty.

I wouldn't worry too much about where the gun is made. I bought a Springfield Loaded (from Brazil) a little over 2 years ago. I've been shooting it in USPSA and have put nearly 8,000 rounds through it without any major issues.

I think you get a little more bang for you buck with a Springfield and its nice knowing that they come with a lifetime warranty. You really can't go wrong with either one.

Having owned both, I'd take a Kimber over the Loaded ~ Both good pistols, but every Kimber I've owned were very accurate & fit N finish were spot on. The loaded I owned was "sloppy", not nearly as accurate as any of the Kimbers & the fit N finish was pretty poor. Heck, after 300rds the plunger tube fell off. Sold the Loaded and kept the Kimber, in fact, I went on to purchase more Kimbers.
