    Can anyone identify this gun?

My wife's grandfather showed me this gun, but he doesn't know what it is. It shoots .22 and has 5204 on the bottom of the barrel, and a 5 a 2 and a 9 on the back of the cylinder. Any ideas of what it is and a approximate value would be great.

I'm sorry I don't have any info about your pistol but I have a revolver from the mid to late 1800's and in my research trying to find its origin I found that there were a number of fly-by-night gun manufacturers in that day. There were no laws regulating the manufacture of firearms so any guy with a shop could start making them and sell them at the local general store. Also patents were rarely obtained or even applied for because a gun was a gun back then so there are a lot of pistols that look very much alike because everyone copied everyone else. It was a very free and open market. Chances of finding the true make, model and year are very slim but good luck in your venture.
