I've been using Wal-mart winchester 100 round 40 sw for while on my usp 40 full size. I did noticed lot of snapping and recoil. Last time i went shooting, my friend brought some ferderal rounds, and boy the gun feels so much different. it was just a basic federal with 180 gr. vs 165 on windchester. so much less recoil and less snappy. it almost felt like 45 cal.

anyone know what would make them so much different? is it the grain?

I notice the same as you. Although I wouldn't describe it like a .45. .40 snappy while .45 is more of a heavy push.

I'm guessing 155-165gr just leaves more room for powder in the casing, thus a snappier feel.

Is there a size difference in the frame between the 40cal and 9mm USP fullsize or are they the same? I know the 45 is a lil bigger.

I had it ported by Goshen Enterprises. I was very pleased how it came out, two slots on the top of each side, nothing in the sight radius was cut out.

I'm contemplating whether to go with installing a HK USP Tactical threaded barrel and screwing on a full compensator or have what you have done ... I use +p ammo on my USP and it has too much front flip; would like to tame it alittle bit more...
              http://www.goshen-hexsite.com/index2.php did the port work.

http://www.coldborecustom.com/Home.html textured the frame, mag extension and did the magwell cutouts. The turn around time was like it was never gone.

The porting helped considerably with the muzzle flip. The best you could do is port it and shoot 200 grain +p ammo.

After taxes and dros I came in under a grand. It came with some other accessories, ammo, etc. Worth it to me because I always wanted one and now I have it. One less on my list...
