they are both reliable and accurate. I did the polish trigger jobs on both. very satisfied. I haven't tried the new Timney trigger yet so I can't compare with an after market one.

I carry G17 on duty for 27 + years. Gen2/3/4 and now 5. Makes no difference to me but I somehow prefer Gen3.

That’s the Glock texturing used on the Gen 1.

Not very aggressive, similar to the Gen3 on the hand grip.
