    Ruger SR22

Does anyone know where I can find a Ruger SR22 pistol? I'm on Orange County. Thank you.

Trying looking in the private firearms sales thread or you can post in the WTB thread. Good luck with your search OP.

Great pistol. PPT will be your best unless you have parents or grown kids out of state

If you are LE, you can order it from your local LGS, otherwise your best bet is PPT from the Marketplace.

The Walther p22 models are on CA roster. You can probably find them in your lgs. I don't own one but heard that they are similar to the SR22.

Thank you all. My buddy got one about 2 years back. It's to teach the kids the basics. I'll keep my eye out.

It's a great .22LR pistol. They are hard to find now even here in the Calgun marketplace.

Stay away from the P22. I had one and I knew friends that got one. They FTF/FTE a lot.

Thanks for this warning. I did not know that. Almost bought one last year LOL.

OP, another recommendation is the GSG 1911-22. You can get it for around $350 new from the store. This is a great training gun. I know, I owned one.

I second this. I Had one and sold it right away. It is very picky with ammo. Although it looks look the SR22, its nothing like it when it comes to reliablity. The SR22 is the most accurate and reliable .22 pistol i ever had.

The GSG 1911-22 is a good training gun if familiarity with a 1911 is important. It is made of a zinc alloy and I question it's durability but the magazines are very nice. It does want hotter ammo, mine wanted mini mags and barely cycled well with Automatch. It choked on everything else I fed it until it was broken in.

The SR22 is really quite a different gun. It is lighter and smaller which was the reason I got one - for working with my daughters. They balked at the weight of the Ruger Mark III's I own. They eat everything I throw at them. The only downside is the take down lever is a bit flimsy and I worry about breaking it. There is a company out there making replacement levers made of metal.

As to where you can get one, well it's going to be the used market or become a LEO or get friendly with a LEO. We got lucky, we bought two (wife insisted she wanted one, she hadn't bought a gun for a while) and we got them one month before it fell off the roster.
