    HD and CCW?

Im choosing either a Glock 23 or a Glock 27 what would be best choice for this and somthing that I can use and my girl can use and we take if needed? Difference in the two recoil comparable in every way pros and cons of both thanks.

I carry a G23 and owned a G27. I think the G27 has more felt recoil by a good bit. I am much more accurate with the G23. But my sister in law carries a G27 - so depending on the lady it may be good to go. G27 isn't that much smaller or easier to carry unless you are talking pocket or purse. But on the waist the difference is minimal.

At home you could use an Xgrip sleeve with a G23 mag in the G27, offering one extra round and more grip area for better control - they are nice. http://www.amazon.com/XGRIP-Magazine.../dp/B00CLZWZB4

But generally speaking you will be more accurate with the longer sight radius of the G23 and felt recoil will be less because of the extra weight.

Now the G26 (9mm sub-compact) on the other hand is a nice shooter - I have one of those and really like it.

What you both need to do is shoot both and decide.

Then see if you can even conceal a 23 properly. My skinny azz cant. I can't even CC a shield.

But if you can conceal both properly, I would take a 23 everytime. And I did. I love my 23, my gf loves it too, everyone loves me 23 when I put my 40-9 barrel in it. The fact it's a gen4 helps a little too. Little more coolaid.

I can't do Glock sub guns, even as much as I love Glocks I just cant.

The 23 for sure, the 27 is too small. Don't fall into the trap of only thinking about how the gun will conceal, think about how it will shoot, recoil and the muzzle blast. The larger gun will be easier to shoot and not much harder to conceal. Unless you are completely set on getting a .40, take a serious look at the 9mm versions, the 19 and the 26. 9mm ammunition is substantially cheaper than .40, and easier to find and shoot. Given the recent advances of 9mm self-defense ammunition, there is virtually no difference it terminal effectiveness.

It has been said that the only constant in world is chance. As far as the 9mm vs .40 issue, it appears to have come full circle. The FBI was the prime mover in the development of the .40, starting out with the 10mm and then loading it down, (at which time the gun manfuactures realized that they could make a 9mm size gun to meet the FBI specifications of the 10mm light, and the .40 was born). The FBI has recently returned to endorsing the 9mm for LE duty use, go figure.

I had the 9mm G17 sold it for a Ruger P89 both are very nice guns. Im about 5'10 180lbs concealing something is not my issue the 27 was what I was leaning towards because of size especially for her to just drop in her purse and go but then I was equal on my thoughts of the 23 I have thought about the 23 with a grip chop done to accept the G27 mags but still have the 23 performance.

Is this your first gun? Only gun?

If it's your first and you plan it to be your only (that never happens) then go with the G23. Primary reason is that it's better for the range and training therefore you will be willing to shoot more and become proficient. THEN you can consider something for CCW and you'll already have your HD choice.

Go shoot both. I sometimes carry a G27, and like the way it conceals. For me, I don't think it's bad to shoot, but my wife hates it. I had a G23 that I sold, because I never carried it.

Forgot to mention, the accuracy in SD situation between G27 and G23 is the same. If you can't hit center mass with G27 a G23 will make no difference.

The Glock 23 is (in my opinion) as close as you can get to a "do-it-all" gun. It's light, it can shoot .40 or with a conversion barrel, 9mm. It's concealable, but almost full sized. I takes it's own magazines, or in a pinch (in another state) a fill 33 round Glock magazine!

As far as Glocks go, it's one of the best configurations, IMHO.

Remember to dial 1 before 911.

Forget about stopping power. If you can't hit it, you can't stop it.

                    There. Are. Four. Lights!

I have both and I would say the 27. Although it's definitely not an ideal HD gun, it can do the job (assuming you don't have a better suited HD firearm).

My experience is the 27 is much more comfortable than the 23 for everyday carry, only carries 1 round less in CA, can use larger mags for a full size grip, and is nearly as accurate as the 23. I also don't like the mag extensions on the 27 because it makes the bottom of the grip, which is the most noticeable part, poke out my shirt the same as carrying a 23.

I feel that the 23 crosses my comfort threshold for EDC and a CCW gun sitting in the safe does no good.

                      Good luck!

For me it is the G27 for both CCW and HD. Why, because I simply place the G27 on the nightstand at the end of the day. I don't want to go to the safe and trade guns around. My preference for HD would be a SA Loaded (45 Automatic). I just finished another self defense course firing some 450 rounds over two days with the G27. It was a pleasure to draw, and shoot with good hits at center mass all day long from numerous static and dynamic firing positions.

Agreed. G23 because it is more "ver-sa-tile". Although, the G27 is pretty neat. I know, I'm not helpful.
