Decide if you want DA/SA or LEM before you pick it up. I'd go LEM.

      Is this a good deal?

You could have sent it to HK and they would have updated the internals for free.

The P2000 is an outstanding all-purpose pistol, and that is a great price if it is a new one. I prefer SA/DA to LEM. (The LEM is good, but the trigger pull is too long for my taste.). I did not think I would like the rear decocker, but I find it to be intuitive and ergonomic.

In 9mm, I prefer the HK pistols to Glocks because I do not trust 10-round 9mm Glock magazines. In addition, HK pistols, in my experience, consistently eject shell casings at 3 and 4 o'clock, unlike recent production Glocks. (I love Glocks, too, but the magazine and btf issues with them are annoying).

It went back and forth twice.

The second time it sat there for quite a while waiting for a "range day" where they could test it. Not sure if it has changed, but back then, they didn't have a test range at the repair facility. I am not bashing H&K, they seem to make fine guns. I just noted my one experience with the P2000, which I fell in and out of love with pretty quickly, that's all.

For those of you who have a P2000, or have handled/shot one, how is the DA/SA trigger? I have Sigs, a compact USP 40, a CZ 75 and Beretta M9's/92FS. Is the P2000 trigger on par with any of those? Better or worse?

The trigger from the P2000 is very close to the USP. The only subtle difference between these two HK's is that the P2000 reset is a bit longer.

The P2000 trigger is similar the USP trigger. I use to own the USP and felt the trigger pull in DA was long and heavy. Not good at all. The ergos on the P2000 is much better than the USP. For $649, I think that's a good deal if you don't mind the trigger pull.

a fellow USP45f owner! i agree, my v1 usp45 is my most consistent pistol in terms of reliability and accuracy. I've sold all my glocks, sigs, CZ's, 1911's (even a dan wesson) and kept this one.

My buddy recently bought an HK45 before the end of SSE and I see no reason to upgrade to the HK45 for some silly backstraps.... people who overly stress about ergonomics and backstraps are too worried about perceived comfort over being able to run their gun properly. leave the whole comfort debate for mattress salesmen....

Overall, to me, the P2000 has a good trigger, and it is great pistol. It is very similar to an HK P30, except for the grip; the P2000 is also slightly shorter in length.

To me, the double-action trigger pull on the P2000 is a lot smoother than the stock USP DA out-of-the-box trigger, and equally as smooth as my SIG Sauer P226 German frame stock DA trigger.

The SA trigger pull on my P2000 is a bit longer (not by much) than the SA trigger pull on the USP and P226.

The reset on my P2000 is a little longer than the USP or P226.

Agreed. The future belongs to the USP SA/DA loyalists.

Thanks for the input, Libertarian71! So, sounds like the P2000 is worth the listed price, then.

I would buy it if I didn't already own one! The P2000 9mm is one of those "just right" size pistols (like a Glock 19)---not too big and not too small, but with enough room to get a proper grip---even for larger hands, like mine. Also, in "free" states you get 13 rds instead of just 10...

I like the DA trigger of the p2000 way better than the Beretta's. SA trigger on the Beretta was probably better though. Overall, I like the p2000 way more than the Beretta.

No experience with the other guns you mentioned.

LEM trigger is waaaaay too long.
Its a good gun, but id rather go USP compact (pretty much same gun and same mags)
Ive fired over 3000 rounds through mine, without a jam. But I tend to limp wrist it, and it doesn't pick up last round.
