    PPQ vs. P320 vs. VP9

    Hi All,

So the following is STRICTLY MY OPINION and my views on these 3 guns. YMMV - take this as a grain of salt.

FYI - my ccw/edc is the PPQ, so obviously I'm biased towards it.

    So here it is:

PPQ - great trigger, great reset, great ergos, I make ragged holes with it. Muzzle flip is negligible, it's a 9mm for crying out loud.

VP9 - decent trigger, decent reset (longest reset of the 3), great ergos. Even though IMHO the VP9 has the worst trigger between the 3 (but a better trigger than 90% of the triggers out there - not in anyway saying it's a bad trigger), I was more accurate with it than the P320. The trigger has a take up/pre travel, then breaks. (better than the HK45, not mushy) Maybe it's because I've had more trigger time with it, or what, I don't know. I had more flyers with the P320.

P320 - good trigger, good reset, ok ergos. The trigger on the P320 is more like a 1911 than a striker fired. There's a slight take up, hits a wall with no mush, no play, and breaks. the ergos however, I'm not as comfortable with as the VP9. I think my hand needs to adjust to the angle of the P320 grip, and has to adjust to the way the trigger breaks. I shot this the worst of the 3, even though I think the trigger is better than the VP9.

    Ranking:
    Trigger: PPQ, P320, VP9
    Reset: PPQ, P320, VP9
    Ergos: (PPQ & VP9 tied), P320
    Recoil: Negligible

Thanks for sharing, enjoyed the quick read. I said it before, all great guns and will vary from shooters. Just have to pick what works for you!

My 4" PPQ is more snappy than my VP9 and P320 as well.

its manageable but just saying side by side PPQ feels more recoils

All 3 feel the same recoil wise for me with the vp9 having the least but not be a noticeable amount

Thanks for the comparison. I have all three as well (my 320 is a Carry, or is that Compact now?).

I completely agree here. And I will add that so far it seems the P320 will have much better success then the different generations of the P250.

Thanks for posting your comparison. I find it interesting on your comment on how the p320 trigger is more comparable to a 1911 than a striker fired. Too bad that I don't have a p320 to try it out. I wish I bought a p320 last year. No I won't pay $1300 for it now Lol.

I'm surprised to hear these findings. I love the trigger on the vp9 maybe I need to shoot a ppq!

Good review, thanks. I have all three as well and pretty much shoot them about the same. One day I'm better with the PPQ, one day the 320, etc. I bought the 320 first and then didn't shoot it for a month or so after getting the VP9 and PPQ. When I did get it back out it shot one ragged hole and outperformed both other guns that day. I guess it felt neglected since it shot my best group in a while and reminded me that while it may not be the current flavor of the month it's still a pretty solid firearm.

                        Compact. Carry's compact-length barrel/slide and full-size grip/mags.

If you think the PPQ in 9MM is snappy try shooting the PPQ in 40S&W. I sold it very quickly. Maybe we over think shooting sometimes. My 14 year old daughter can shoot her PPQ (I gave it to her) pretty dam good, even out to 10 yards.

I had a deposit on a p320 but the few times I held it felt like it would slip out of my hands pretty easily. There is a portion on the grip that has no real texture.
