    Safariland ELS System?

Made another thread recently about holsters, pouches, and belts.

After researching the options suggested, I stumbled upon the Safariland ELS system. I'm wondering if there's any advantage to "normal gear" vs the whole ELS system aside from the ELS costing more?

If possible, I'd rather not spend all of the extra $ to have 2 sets of gear if just having the Safariland ELS system will do. While I don't and probably won't shoot 3 gun for a while (seems like the ELS system was designed for 3 gun), I really like the idea concept of a belt that can be configured easily and rapidly.

    So far:
    - Holsters: Every post I've seen though does seem to indicate that people use w/e holsters they want with the ELS belt and some will modify (mostly drilling a hole or two) holster mounts or holsters to work with the ELS/QLS quick detach system so I see no advantage or disadvantage for holsters.
    - Pouches: It does look like you will have to use safariland mag holders + shell caddies although there were some mentions here and there of people modifying gear to work with the ELS system. I see this as a disadvantage if safariland gear doesn't work well for you.

If no one here is super familiar with the system, would a site like brianenos, pistol forum, or a more competition oriented crowd be a better place to get info like this? (hope mention of other forums isn't against the rules here)

EDIT: If there is no downside to the ELS system, what's the best or cheapest place to buy. I'm not buying any time really soon and can wait for a sale, etc.

If you shoot multiple divisions, or platforms, and you want 1 belt to rule them all, it's a good choice.

Or you could go with a different belt for each gun.
