    Springfield 1911 RO

Hey guys, had a quick question picked this gun up when I was stationed in Maryland Springfield 1911 RO 45acp. Since I separated I brought this to California. But I always wondered why on the hard case theres a white stick thats says "NOT LEGAL IN CALIFORNIA". I've searched but could never find something solid. Was wondering if the Calguns community could shed some light.

It's not on the CA roster of approved firearms. You can bring it here legally but you need to follow the DOJ rules for registering it here.
I voted against Obama before it was cool.

It looks just plain beastly and the extra heft up front does help manage recoil a bit better. Plus, an angel told me that when God called JMB to heaven it was to build him a full rail 1911!

IF YOU BUY ANY BULK AMMO FROM LAX AMMO, YOU BETTER COUNT THE ROUNDS. I WAS SHORTED BY THEM.

I see but I was technically, always a resident of California since its my 'State of residence". What form would I need to complete?

It's legal in California, most handguns are. But it is not legal to buy it from a dealer in California since it's not on the stupid roster.

The only reason the ranger/cops should be looking at your gun is for lust. There is a difference as to what constitutes illegal gun in California versus what can be sold by a dealer.

Many folks here own a gun that was purchased new and now have fallen off the roster. They are legal to own just like you're perfectly legal to own the RO.

You can't own a short barreled shotgun so the Taurus Judge is verboten.
You can't have a threaded barrel on a handgun.
Unless you are LEO you can't have a high capacity magazine unless owned it prior to the ban. A 1911 with a normal magazine will be no problem in that regard.

considering that a lot of LEOs are not gun enthusiasts, I don't think a fair amount would be able to tell between an "on roster" vs a "non-roster" 1911 anyway, not that it would be "illegal" to own...

Even if they knew what the roster was, it's so difficult to remember all that info off the top of your head. Also, stuff like that is usually a tac on charge for other stuff so unless you are doing something illegal odds are no one will bother you.
