Advice on tracking down rare revolvers

For the past couple years or so, I've been feverishly looking for a Dan Wesson PPC/and or Action cup. I got the chance to fire a PPC at a local gun range and have desperately wanted one ever since. I've posted ads on various firearm websites and obsessively checked Gunbroker, Armslist, Proxibid and the like but so far, nothing. As near as I can tell, this revolver is near impossible to find, but maybe some of you can prove me wrong.

Are there any members here on Calguns that might know of better ways to hunt down rare firearms such as the DW PPC? Or better yet, are there any members out there who actually own one and would like to sell?

Any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I'm located in LA for anyone who wants to know.

PPC revolvers are a niche market.
The majority of PPC revolvers are custom ordered/made.
Which makes Dan Wesson "PPC" revolvers very rare.

So, you can do the follow:

1. Keep searching the auction sites and WTS forums, hoping that one will turn up.

2. Acquire a Dan Wesson 715 revolver and have it custom made into a PPC revolver.

Either option, expect to pay between $1500-3000 for one.

Just found a PPC Smith & Wesson 586 at a local gun shop while I was doing a PPT. It's in jail right now can't wait to shoot it. This will be my 2nd PPC wheel gun. I would not limit yourself to only a Dan Wesson the Smiths and Colts are pretty awesome too.

i've searched long and far without result for a gun that persists in eluding me, only to chance upon it after thoughts of it have diminished. tenacity, longly patience and luck of the draw yield satisfaction, or not.

I bought a PPC gun made from a pre model Combat Masterpiece at a LGS. I wasn't even looking for one.


If you want one that bad, just buy a standard Dan Wesson and have it converted.

The modular barrel shroud system of the Dan's really IMO make them unbeatable for PPC wheelguns. You can have different weight shrouds and sight systems that can be changed over literally in minutes. Easily "tune to the match" if you will. Most versatile wheelguns around.
