Need a quick answer if possible.

Running on very little time here. I'm looking at a Lorcin Model L380 .380 handgun. Now, is Lorcin an offshoot brand of Bryco or vice versa? If you PM and need to know more I can give a better reason for trying to figure this out, but if anyone know I appreciate the help. Thanks.

Sorry, google fu isn't finding what you want.

    I did find this:
"Lorcin pistols are generally regarded as the worst firearm production company in history, similar in nature to Jimenez and Cobra."

go to youtube and look up "ring of fire guns"...

you got the whole back story and the connections between the man his family friends of theirs and so on who started one firearms company after another always low budget guns.

I believe it was something like ...

after one company got a bad name for low quality or in trouble somehow they would just open a new company under someone else's name.

some people like to collect them just for low-budget fun and when you consider they were originally priced around $70 or less per firearm you can understand their reliability and longevity might not be on par with other firearms.

but you should consider another thing besides the Lorcins poor reliability, low quality and longevity issues.

.380 ammunition is expensive to me it doesn't make sense if you could just find a Hi Point pistol you could have it in 9 mm (and more powerful cartridge) and you will find a lot of that ammo at reasonable prices or even on sale everywhere you search.

      I hope that helps

They can be interesting to collect, just for the novelty...but I'd only pay $20-30 for one; DROS would double the initial investment

              run away from them

i remember at the time the guns would work for about a magazine then start jamming

the only cure was to buy a new magazine for like $30 or if you were an expert you could retune the cheap soft mag lips with some flatpliers

imagine the hate you have for hi-point (and those generally work) now multiply that by 4 and you end up with lorcin level of annoyingness

I thought that this was their original purpose.

+1; there is a collectors circle for this type of handgun.

Many years back, I saw a KQED expose on what they call the Ring of Fire Guns because their facilities on the map is like a ring around the LA area. I did a quick search and found this: http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontl...companies.html

Well the roster was initially created to eliminate these saturday night specials. Guess what, they all passed ...

it's part of california's history, which also makes these guns attractive as california collectibles. in the late 1980s i was given a tour of Raven Arms in industry, california.

These low quality handguns were one of the reasons the Roster came about.
