    CZ 97b

So I picked up my new CZ yesterday. This gun is a big one. I am sorta bummed about one thing, it will not feed hollowpoints at all even to just chamber one. I called CZ and they told me it needs a ramp job, and to just send in the barrel to have them do it free of charge.

After the ramp job, it will feed hollow points. You will be happy with it as it is a tack driver!

My 97B hasn't failed to feed ANY ammo I fed it and very accurate to boot!

I hope after the short trip back to CZ, it will serve you well.

Looks like it is going to KS for a little polishing.

My CZ 97 hasn't had anything done to it, feeds everything. I think I have Gold Dot or Remington Sabre 230 grains in there. Maybe run a few boxes of hardball through it before sending back to CZ.

And so long as you're not the "use a hammer to kill a fly type" smooting out the CZ frame isn't technically challenging. Some fine grit wetndry paper should do it.

Man, a CZ 97b is high on my list. I have medium-sized hands, however, so I'm afraid it'd be a bit too big for me. By most accounts, the 97b is a monster. By most accounts, it's also insanely accurate as well. Wish I could fondle one first. It's been a while since I've even seen one in a case.

A rough estimate, but if the tip of your trigger finger to the heel of your hand is a bit over 8.5" you should be fine.

              +1

This was my first handgun and will probably remain my favorite for a long time. I had the exact same problem when I first got mine but after 1 trip to the range and a meticulous cavity-search type cleaning afterwards, she hasn't had any feeding issues. I've had several different types of ammo through her too...

I read on one of the CZ forums some other people having HP feed issues out of the box but following their recommendations, I went to town on the feed ramp during the first cleaning and that solved it. I'm not familiar with the parkerizing process but it looked like overspray of some sort (not carbon fouling), nothing a dental pick and some polish won't solve.

Have you broken it down yet, what does the ramp look like?

The make thin grips for it that reduce the width from 1.3 Inches across the frame.
The Slim Aluminum grips are 1.068 Inches,

I have medium side hands and its ok to shoot with the stock grips.

The ramp is polished to almost a mirror finish and I keep the guns super clean. The issue it seems from talking with CZ today is common on some 97's and Mike Eagleshield can take care of it if the barrel is sent in. I will run a couple more boxes of fmj go from there. My other CZ feeds anything with no effort.
