    PPQ Slide Release...

    I've been taking my M1 to the range the passed couple of times attempting to hone my skills with the bad boy.

    Thing is the most comfortable grip I make with it has my thumb resting on the slide release and what do ya know. After the last round the slide doesn't stay open. The obvious answer is "don't rest your thumb on it dumby."

    I've tried holding it with an open thumb grip and it doesn't feel right at all. Does anyone know if they make a shorter slide release for the PPQ? PPQ M1 to be exact? Or suggest a better grip?

    Thanks in advance.

    I grip my M1 with my thumbs pointing straight forward. My strong hand thumb rests right under the slide release, parallel with it, and my weak hand thumb rests right under my other thumb.

      @Boyet.
      PPQ M2 4" here.

      I have this same "problem" mainly because I mostly train with my Glock, thumbs forward and (fairly) tight to the frame. And obviously as high up grip in the web of my hand as I can go. Although the Ergos are different on the PPQ, you can't help but hold it "the same way"..

      Being left handed, I consciously have to slide my thumb under that slide release. I've done the same thing as you a few times, and it's quite annoying to be frank. Even though it has ambi controls, I find it somewhat useless since I power stroke the slide on each new magazine.

      That being said, I've looked around for a "solution" such as a removing the right side release completely (delete kit?). I have read other blogs of people shaving it down.

      I haven't done anything about it other than consciously be aware of it before shooting.

        Gotta agree....I shoot thumbs forward, on the frame, and have never hit the PPQ slide release. Not only that, the slide release is pretty tight.
