Your post is how rumors start (and people waste time talking about something that may never happen)

"Sig Special Edition" P322 (Sig P322-SSE) anyone???

In either case, if this is real, the price to get to a semi auto 320 in CA will still be a bit more since you have to buy the single shot pistol first.

But if they made a low end 22LR poly frame bolt action with 10.5" bbl and slipped this serialized fire control group into it at the factory, they just might sell a bunch of them in CA
My thoughts exactly! When I began hearing rumblings of the possibility of SSE2, it immediately occurred to me that the FCU from the P320 might provide some interesting possibilities.

I imagine that Sig will eventually develop a .22lr conversion kit for the platform anyway, so they could offer it in combination with a special purpose .22lr kit for California.

It might feature an ultra compact frame/grip module, either with a removable mag block (my preference) or no magwell at all (true single shot) which would house the P320 FCU and a .22lr conversion kit (which would be interchangeable between frames to allow for cheap plinking across all the P320 variants).

It would feature a special break top/flip down barrel and adapted slide design (akin to the Beretta Tomcat's flip up barrel, but design tweaked a bit, if necessary, to meet the language/requirements of the exemption), and it would sport a "bonus 10" target" barrel from the factory (with a standard 2.5" barrel also included).

                "Sig Special Edition P322" anyone?
                Possible???

Never going to happen. If Sig wanted to market their P320 models in CA, would they be better off just comply with the roster and put some scratches to the firing pin and be done with?

Would this run afoul of any state or fed laws? I recall with ARs you can't use a rifle lower and turn it into a pistol. Dunno if the same would apply here.

However, if the FCU starts off in a Title 1 Rifle.
Then, it is not legal to make it into a Title 1 Handgun because it would be considered a Title 2 SBR (weapon made from a rifle) under Federal & CA laws.

                        Under Federal laws/regulations...
Title 1 Other (SIG FCU) -> Title 1 Rifle -> Title 1 Handgun = illegal Title 2 SBR (weapon made from rifle)

Talked with Tim at Shot Show.

He does like the idea about making a slide for it(break action or Bolt action I told him either will work).

But, he said either way it'll cost millions to get something and What if CA changes the LAW Again????????????????????????

Whos going to take the lose???

But he didn't denied the idea, nor approved it!

IMO, its a no go from Sig at least!

Yep that's what I was thinking too - CA laws are too fickle to dump that much coin.

In the mean time my P320 has a big brother 9mm keeping it company.
