sig p226 no s/n on slide

I need help I just pick up a used police trade in sig p226, s/n U617XXX
I notice that slide has no s/n or proof marks, I have an other p226 with around the same s/n and it has s/n and proof marks on the slide under the barrel. any one have any idea why they are different. thanks. also is $500 a good price for used police trade in, the gun functions 100% but looks beat up.
    Thanks

Early models had serial numbers on the frame, slide, and barrel. This changed some time ago, and now only the frame has a serial number. I have a P226 with a number in the same U6***** series, and only have it on the frame.

Not all p226 has SN on both slide and frame. The only P226 with SN on slide and frame are the one that is 100% made in germany. You properly have a frame made in germany and US made slide. These have no proof mark, no date mark, no test mark, and sn on the frame only.

Probably PPT or consignment since they are not on the roster in the configuration LEO would carry.

Thanks guys, ya I got it ppt I will sent it to sig for the basic service clean, new springs and sig lite sight. I thought about maybe refinishing the slide since it look so beat up. All those years of being carried in a holster shows on the slide.

If you like two tone, get the slide bead blasted to stainless finish.
