shoot gangster style. if you hold the gun sideways, the gun and your hand blocks the incorrect sight picture, so there's only one set of sights to focus on.

seriously though, just practice a lot. every evening i pull an unloaded pistol out of my safe and practice drawing it in my hallway. i used to have to squint to get the sight picture correct, but now it comes naturally.

Scotch tape over one eye on your shooting glasses. Just put it on the bottom half so you can still see clearly with both eyes for reloads

I'm right handed left eye dominant. I do what Hickock 45 does. Turn your head to the right slightly till my chin almost touches my bicep. That way my left eye ends up behind the sights.

When dry firing, aim with the weak eye, if your getting the blurry vision, close your dominant eye till you get a good picture. Open your dominant eye and maintain aiming with the weak eye, as you pull the trigger. Repeat the process until you can aim with your weak eye without closing the dominant one.

            This.
Or I've just slightly canted my sights to the left and that has worked for me as well. Just be patient and pay attention to your aim and visability. I've learned to shoot with both eyes open decently. Just want to get to the point of actually point shooting and knowing my gun enough to do so.

Since that goal is aiming with the weak eye, you can practice (initially) in any stance. I started one handed, facing sideways to my right, I would raise the pistol and aim at no particular target, just getting my right eye to focus on the front sight. When I got used to it, I switched to isosceles but still on one hand stance. When I started getting blurry vision, I would just close both eyes for a few seconds, then open the weak eye first to focus on the front sight, then open the dominant one while maintaining my aim. I did this almost every night, until I got my weak eye to focus and not not get strained.
When I was able to do that, I then went to holding the pistol with both hands, doing the proper stance, aim at a target and pull the trigger. Bring down the pistol and repeat the sequence. If I felt my eyes getting strained before I could pull the trigger, I would stop, relax and start over.

Your eyes will wig out for awhile. As long as you focus your dominant eye on the front sight, your eyes will get the hang of it with time and practice.

Try squinting your support eye until you can finally open it all the way.

Your brain will finally figure out what's going on and your eyes will stop wigging out. Your dominant eye will key in on the front sight and your support eye will understand it needs to be lazy.

Time and practice are your friend.

yea I have the same issue... If I try to use my right eye, I see double, and then your guessing which front sight is the right one to use. I can however squint my right eye to force my left do it's thing.

I was taught to do this as well and it didn't take long to feel natural.

I am cross eye dominate and I find to make my eyes focus correctly is to wink my left and my right will focus in. As long as I keep that focus on the front sight, it won't switch to my left. If it does, I do another wink and it will refocus. I have found this little trick works wonders for me.

Right handed and right eye dominant. BUT, I had Lasik a few years ago and had my left eye corrected for computer/reading use. The front sights on my handguns are much clearer when shooting cross eye. Like others had said, my chin is on my right bicep. For scoped rifles, I shoot with my right eye since I can dial in any correction in the eyepiece.

wow.., thanks all for the replies. yea i've tried to shoot left handed (weaker hand) before, thinking that thumb over thumb grip and being right handed, it'll be easier to support the gun on recoil, but it felt odd.

i don't have a bladed stance, i stand square and try to make it simple like what Jerry Miculek video mentioned about. i will try the open eye practice by bring it to my dominant left eye first.

I have the same issue. right handed left eye dominant. this has been a concern for me as right now I close my left eye to aim. working on my grip and trigger manipulation to improve my shooting skill first. plan on doing some practice to get used to using both eyes open and train my right eye to be able to take aim. but at the moment I can't tell sometimes if the issue is my aim or me. so working on shooting technique first. good luck OP, i'll probably be going through the same issue as you when I start working on this.

Jxp0123, I'm also working grip and trigger part first. This is soothing I wanna be able to do later on as well, but never hurt to learn about the concept and basics first.
