Do-Over: You Don't Know What You Don't Know

But if you knew when you first got into spending money and time on handguns what you know now, would you do it differently? Why or why not and how? Let's assume you have the same amount of funds to spend.

Of course there is no replacement for actual experience, i.e. you won't know how "Brand X" handgun feels like shooting and/or owning/maintaining until you shoot/own one, but assume that you do before even getting a handgun, would you get one?

This is all hypothetical of course, so don't over-analyze and just have fun. Lighten up a bit, ok?

Here's my top 5 do-over items (as of now):

    1) Get THE 1911 that I truly want and skip every other 1911 - a Nighthawk Custom Talon (blued/black, government) - and a Marvel .22LR conversion kit

    2) Get a Smith & Wesson 686 SSR

    3) Get a CZ SP-01 in 9mm and from the get-go have it modified with CGW parts and get a kadet kit to go with it

    4) Get an EAA Witness Elite Match with two slide assemblies (9mm and 45) and have the FCG polished for a smoother trigger pull

    5) Use my leftover funds for MORE ammo, 1-on-1 and group training classes, competition and custom gear (holster, mag pouch, belt, etc.)

    Care to share yours?

Yes and no. I had a chance to shoot almost every firearm that I have ever purchased.
Ultimately, I should have spent more money on ammo and range time and a bit less on firearms. I don't have a safe full of firearms, so I guess its not too late.

I saw the title and i thought i pissed someone off without knowing it!

Now that, i'm here, i am a strong believer in Do Over's.

Mine would be buy less 9mm and more 10mm before SSE ended.

I would have bough the same stuff, more ammo when it was cheap, but I would have doubled up on some to keep one NIB.

I really shouldn't have indiscriminately bought as many long guns in 2013 as I did. Some were of mediocre quality, some were just unnecessary. At least my daughter is now the best armed 22 year old LOL

Several years ago when I got into C&R I had handguns sent to me and sending in the fee. If I could re-do, I would have ordered 10 nagant pistols @69.00 each instead of two and 10, CZ 52's @130.00 each instead of 3 of them.

I would have invested my entire retirement portfolio on HK SP-89 pistols. They were $999 in 1990, and they sell for $4,500 now. I would have also purchased a few Colt Pythons and S&W 357 revolvers.

It's not the destination, it's the journey.

No regrets. This old dog can still learn some new tricks.

Spend $0 on AR and buy m1 garand

And buy up all federal champion .22 while they are $15-$17 per 500

open up an FFL and make millions after SH

But there is no undo or redo or save n load options...

Except for the first three that was sold after shooting them only one time, I'm very satisfied with what I have now. If and when money becomes available again, P239 will be my next purchase.

I would've skipped over glocks, they work and are reliable but not for me

I would've not bothered with a 1911, also not my thing, old design and mediocre capacity

Skipped sigs, don't like where the slide stop is, slide never stays to the rear due to how I grip the pistol

Bought a sp01 tactical and sent it to CGW

Buy ammo when its cheap and stack it deep (learned my lesson with the 2013 panic)

Bought more ammo instead of more guns

That being said I don't think there was any way for me to learn what I know now without all the trial and error so I don't really regret any purchase

Would have bought two CZ P-07's. Keep my Nighthawk T3 as it is. Build a helluva AR. Then buy tons of ammo when it was cheaper, and stack it DEEP.

Registered my HK collection instead of selling when the first ban came about.

Kept some of the Pythons I had over the years.

I'd have a bought a bunch more and rarer Colt 1911's.
