I also picked up some Frog lube kit that the dealer recommended - He said that this is the **** in his own words and it kinda smells pretty good....
Just not sure where to use it, there is some paste, oil, and spray

Make sure it's properly lubed according to manufacturer instructions. If you aren't sure check youtube.

Then shoot it. Don't waste time with shoot/clean, it's not a precision bench rest competition rifle, and to be perfectly honest there's no break in on most firearms.

      Frog lube is... well marketed...

      Good luck and be safe.

I use FL paste, the liquid can get gummy. Never had that problem with the paste.

You won't have a break in period really for reliability. It's gonna function great out of the box. Just lube it up and have a blast!

Just remember to clean off the oil/grease that came with the gun, lube with your favorite brand of lube and then have fun shooting your new pistol.

I'd pick up some snap caps and do some dry firing to get familiar with the trigger. Though I dry fire my xd-40 all the time without snap caps and the Glock I previously ownded without a problem. Xd's are great guns enjoy.

Have you broken the roll pin from dry firing? People have reported breaking the striker retainer roll pin from excessive (nobody knows what is considered excessive) dry firing.

Whatever your experience level, be safe and responsible. If you don't know the 4 golden rules, ask, and consider taking a class with an NRA safety instructor. It's cheap, worthwhile, and enjoyable.

Hey, no fortunately I haven't broken anything on any of my guns from dry firing. My xd was bought used early 2014 and have onlu dry fired maybe a few hundred times. Thanks for the heads up though this is the first I've heard of pins breaking on the xd from dry fire. I will continue to do so as it gives me a chance to become familiar with my gun without paying for ammo.

Someone once upon a time told me if you don't do a full breakdown prior to shooting the first time, it may be a good idea to at least pull the barrel out so you can look and make sure there are no obstructions. Never thought about it before I was told that, and it seemed super valid. ha

Brand new? Did it come with an instruction manual?

Break it down and make sure it's lubed properly.

Load up the mags tonight and let them sit to help set the springs

Go to the range and shoot the snot out of it.

Your dealer sells it...follow the money.

He would be correct in saying Frog Lube, generally, is **** as a lubricant, not "the ****". But as was posted above, it is very well marketed...Frog Lube is simply repackaged Track Lube, originally developed for amusement park rides.

Your owner's manual should have lubrication basics.

                              Have fun.
