    MP5 Pistol

I want to build a MP5/10mm using individual parts with a stamped (not folded or welded) receiver. Using the normal 10mm MP5 barrel with a butt stock cap and a mag lock would make it legal, correct?

    If I can't find a factory MP5/10mm barrel I'll make it a .40S&W. Last I heard a factory MP5/10mm barrel went for $900.

I know that the SP89's had a tab welded onto the outside of the receiver rails to prevent a stock from being installed. Not sure if that is required, but it might. If you find a .40 barrel, you could always have it reamed to 10mm as they have the same bore, case diameter, and twist rate; 10mm just has a longer case. All the receivers are stamped, folded, and welded; the stamping makes a flat with all the small contours and cuts placed on it, it's then folded (or rather rolled) into it's final shape and then a bead is welded down the middle to seam the two ends together. You could either buy a flat and make one yourself or find a company that makes them and have them make a pistol receiver and either build the pistol for you or send it to someone else. You would then fix a single shot magazine in place and DROS it under single shot exempt.

All of that aside, assuming you keep a fixed magazine of less than 10 rounds in it while in this state you should be good.

These laws suck. I'll just make one and F1 SBR it when I move out of here to GA. I'll just buy a Saiga and convert it to an AK103 I guess. It should cost less anyway.

I just started looking into this as well. Though I want a 9mm sp89.
So would a custom built mag to only accept 1 round and use a radlock to lock the magazine inplace work?

Anybody have a 1 shot HK type mag?
Anybody done this to make a CA legal HK type pistol?

          Sounds like a plan.

There is a big push right now to replace the MP5 with the new MP7 in most militaries. While security forces and smaller agencies will still use the MP5, HK has pretty much replaced it. As world militaries and special forces 'upgrade', the surplus of MP5s will be chopped up.

because they are SMGs and aren't legal to be imported anymore; and seeing as how we are one of the few countries whose civilians can legally still own firearms they would rather chop them up for parts and get some money for them than to just recycle them for scrap.

Any way we can get a push to get the 86 ban lifted in time and/or is the 68 problem exempt for LE...like if someone's department wanted to grab up a couple thousand of them then we wait out the 86?

10mm won't be easy to find. I've read elsewhere about people re-chambering .40 cal barrels to 10mm, but don't know anything about this myself, maybe worth looking into.

The home roll thing is the easiest way to get to a pistol, otherwise you'll need to find somebody to single shot a cohaire pistol, which isn't that easy to do, custom locking piece so it won't unlock maybe?????
