    Helping with Shooting

This is my 2nd Saturday that I have fired my HK P2000.

When I am at 15 yds and more, I mostly hit the right lower side of the target.
Last Sat I did the same and this Sat I did it again. And this worsens when I am shooting multiple rounds fast.

I know I am supposed to be squeezin the trigger slowly and my instructor said I was doing that. I have my sights lined up.

Could I be trying to compensate for the recoil and pushing the gun down and to the right? Is my grip not good or my wrist not positioned right?

Any one have any experience with this kind of problem? What is the best way to find out what is going out and how to fix it?

Do you shoot at Chabot or Target Masters?

You should have someone else shoot the pistol, if it behaves then you need
        to practice some Grip control.

Have you tried sighting your gun on the target with your finger out of the trigger guard and let someone else "pull" the trigger?

I suspect it is a trigger control issue. Squeeze, don't mash the trigger...

Overcompensating, and need firm grip. Not a Deathgrip though, a nice squeeze the melon but don't squish it type.

Bring the target closer in, maybe around 21 ft/7 yards and work your way farther. Get nice, tight groups until you're confident and slowly move the target further as you progress.

Shooting low, right as a lefty indicates that you're anticipating the recoil. In single action, take up the slack in the trigger, and slooooowly press the trigger. The key is, even if you feel that you're pressing the trigger slowly, you'll subconsciously flinch when the hammer drops. Mixing snapcaps with live rounds will make the flinch evident when the hammer drops on a snapcap.

Dryfire, dryfire, and dryfire a lot at home.

                Good luck!

Good idea. I should have asked the instructor to squeeze the trigger. But what he did was place his finger on the trigger and have me press on his finger slowly. That improved my shots and moved them closer to the target.

Sory for my dumb questions but did you mean dry fire with snap caps at home or dry fire with nothing at all?

It's incredible helpful to have someone with instructor experience watch you shoot a gun. Sometimes they can see something you are doing and give you a quick fix. If you want to enjoy shooting it even makes sense to pay an instructor one lesson to make sure it is not you gun,. but your technique. A lot of people are embarrassed to ask for instruction shooting. Don't be. Hitting the target feels way better than just pulling the trigger.

And don't shoot fast until you're shooting well in slow, deliberate fire.

Also, when dry firing (with an empty gun or snap caps) a laser will show you it you muzzle is dipping form jerking the gun in anticipation of recoil.

Have you tried shooting off a sand bag rest to eliminate that the sights could be off?
Load some snap caps in different order in the magazines and watch your gun action when you squeeze it off.

This is a good one to practice too.
