Cosmetically they are quite unique. Look almost like snakeskin pattern.

Mechanical differences- some P226 have LCI and magazine disconnect, others don't. Not sure about this particular model.

so...in terms of shooting and accuracy all the p226's are the same if not very very similar?

              Hi GeeZer81,

Not sure what is a good deal for you, but Turners in Temecula is supposed to have a SS P226R with night sights, new, for $799.

              Hi MikeKilo -

For all basic purposes (excluding the beavertail, SS, and X series) yes, but the shootability and accuracy changes for most when you add/subract different parts and not all these parts are mechanical in nature (some are, some are not).

The good news is MOST of the parts are exchangeable across the P226 line which, after deciding if you like the beavertail or not, allows you to customize the pistol how you like, or purchase it up-front with that specific model. Think grips, trigger, reset, action, sights etc.

After that then you get into truly "cosmetic" features which shouldn't affect "shootability" for anyone, yet, I swear I shoot those FDE handguns better than standard black! Lol.

Spoke to Sig custom shop today and they'll Scorpionize a P239 with paint, Highe grips and SRT. Kick in the full service and you can buy a used P239 without the LCI crap and have it converted, ramped and fine tuned by Sig into a Scorpion for less than new, which isn't on the roster.

I guess I'll be the party pooper, I hate the ergonomics with the beavertail. It seems to push my hand down and away from the bore axis. The SRTs are pretty sweet though.
