    Glock pistol certificate

Has anyone here used a glock pistol certificate? If so can you fill me in on your experience?

I'm wondering if the ffl is going to charge me transfer fee and if its appropriate. And lead time.

I think transfer fee can be yes and no. I mean they aren't transferring anything but it's not part of their inventory. I don't know but anyways I'm just seeing what up with using my certificate. I'm in Pasadena area so if theres any ffl in particular to recommend for this pleases let me know. Thanks guys!

I've received a couple, but have always sold them. Unless things have changed, you don't choose what FFL you go to.
Used to be you had to go to a (pre-specified) LE-only dealer. And no, I don't recall any FFL-transfer fee.

That would've been a good setup. On this certificate it asks for an ffl to send it to. And if I sell it I have to submit a certificate transfer form.

I can snap a picture of it later tonight when I get home.

Do you mean the certificate you get with your GSSF membership that gets you a discount on a Blue Label Glock or something else?

You have to find a BLUE LABEL GLOCK DEALER. In my area the only one is SACRAMENTO BLACK RIFLE.

They have specific Glocks that they purchased under Glocks BLUE LABEL program. They paid less for those Glocks than the ones for retail and can only sell them to LEO or GSSF members with a certificate. They can't just sell any Glock in the shop at that discounted price. It has to be a Blue Label Glock.

I used my GSSF membership certificate to buy my Glock 26. It came with a Vickers extended slide stop and magazine release pre-installed which I found to be a bonus.

Yes, you pay transfer fees and taxes. Other than having to buy it from a Blue Label Dealer, and being limited to the guns they purchased through the Blue Label Program there was no difference between that transaction and other time I bought a gun at a gun shop. I just paid a little less.

FYI, GSSF gives you one certificate per year of membership. The expiration date on all the certificates will be the date at the end of the membership you signed up for. Sign up for two years, and your certificates all expire at the end of that two year period. Even if you sign-up for more years later, it is a use it or loose it scenario. Additionally, they only send you one per year. So if you sign up for two years you have to wait until that second year before they'll send you the second certificate. They don't send it automatically either. You have to call and ask them to send it to you. Which of course I forgot to do until it was too late. My member was going to expire in 20+ days, and I had yet to even use my first certificate. When I called to ask for the second one, I was told they could send it but the expiration would be in less than 20+ days as well. Thanks to CA's 1-30 day law, I was screwed. So plan it batter than I did.

          Good point.

To be clear on my post above, you can't sell your GSSF membership cert (right?) because it has your name on it.
The ones you win at GSSF events do not have your name on them and you can resell them (or at least you used to be able to).

Yep, it has your name on it. And by the time you're done with taxes and fees it is no longer practical to buy the gun and then turn around and sell it. You won't make a profit. They designed the program to be that way on purpose. They give you just enough of a discount to make it worth it if you want a Glock for yourself. But not enough that you would do it to make a profit. I assume that is more about staying out of trouble with the ATF than anything else...but who knows. Might just be about keeping from devaluing their product.

Not a blue label cert, the free prize pistol cert. I get and use the gssf blue label discount certificate. This is a prize from a gssf match.

Ive seen a prize cert from other matches and they look different. This one is personalized with my name on it. I imagine because its from an organized gssf match and not a general prize cert to given to whom ever wins.

Oh...sorry. Didn't know about those. Never participated in the matches.

Congrats! Well, I am not sure. I assume there will still be fees and taxes. State is gonna want their money regardless, so somebody is gonna have to pay it. Maybe GSSF pays it for you? Not sure.

I doubt just any Gun Dealer can help. I would still assume it is gonna be a Blue Label Glock. But again, I could be wrong. Give GSSF a call on that one. Phone: 770.437.4718

Be very clear on the fact that is a FREE PRIZE CERTIFICATE from wining a match and not the standard GSSF Membership Certificate. Or they will likely draw the same conclusion I did.

Thanks guys! Uh not sure yet, I've been thinking about it a lot and its hard to choose which one is next haaha. I have a 17, 20, 21, and 34. The considerations are a 19, 26 or 30. I'd like a 40 but I already have cool mags for the other calibers.

On the certificate it says that tax is only applicable to the upgrade cost for the non standard sized models. Just like the discount deal where you have to pay extra for certain models.

The best part about this is that it was a random prize! I'm a decent shoot but not good enough to win! Haaha

Thats what I'm wondering. Its not coming from a dealer but from glock direct. There no tax to be collected either. It's kind of a special scenario. Just like how blue label distributors have to grant gssf discount coupons. Maybe its part of their agreement...I don't know.

But I will follow up with my experience on this.

Would love to hear more details on how this works once you know. Not that I will likely be winning any free certificates. I'm just curious.

And again, congrats man! That's a heck of a deal. Get a fun day of shooting and win a free Glock. Can't beat that with a bat!

Yes I have thought about it and I think it can go both ways. That's why I asked. Im not expecting a dealer not to charge, i was just asking if anyone experienced this.

My friend bought a g17 through the gssf discount program and it had to be special ordered and there was no transfer fee.

As I said its kind of a special situation. And I'm just asking.

Tacticalcity - thanks man! The thing with gssg is you never know. They give out guns, cash amd gear. I was just there to shoot and didn't think of random prizes. But I got a surprise letter in the mail saying they're giving me a pistol! All I did was show up and shoot haaha.

I called GSSF and asked how it works with transfers. She explained that blue label guns are special ordered but are considered dealer inventory and thats why there's no transfer fee. The free gun is going from Glock to the winner so so its a transfer as it's not going into a dealers inventory.

So I was at a shop buying a rifle and remembered that I had the certificate in my car. I grabbed it and asked them about it. They had never seen one before but said they'd process it. Transfer fee of $100 and I chose a 19. Not too shabby.

We were going over the paperwork and then saw in bold small font, please allow 20 weeks for delivery! Haaha ohhh man thats a long time. But whatever, I'm in no rush. Hope I can pull another one of these certs or two this year haaha.
