    Desert Eagle Question

A buddy is thinking about selling his Desert Eagle (black). He purchased it two years ago from Turners and put over 100 rounds through it. I asked him which he had and he couldn't remember. I then called turner's and asked which model they sell and the guy said "Black or silver" then "The only Desert Eagle legal in California".

Does anyone know which model this translates to? Mark VII, XIX...?

Also what would you value it at? It's in great condition. Basically a safe queen.

it should say what model on the left side of your slide. "Desert Eagle Mark ____, Made in Israel/USA" with a caliber stamp on the front

do you remember what caliber it is? there are a few offered; including .41 magnum (Discontinued) .357, .44mag and .50 AE

if the gun only has 100 rounds through it, and it has seen an equal share of maintenance and cleaning; then it could easily go for 850 or 900 dollars depending on overall quality. that is assuming this is an XIX model of course, the older ones arent favored because it is alot harder to change barrels out.

        Thanks fellas,

It's a .44 mag. I'll tell him to take it out and look at the slide. I'm assuming Turner's must sell different models? Do you think Turner's meant no .50AE when they said "California Legal"?

that could be true, but they could also be referring to the CA safe handguns roster. since silver Desert eagles were added only a few months ago; there could still be some employees who dont realize that they are OK to sell.

as you may or may not know, in order for a company to sell a gun in Ca, lets say a black beretta m92, they have to submit it for torture testing to the DOJ. once it passes it is deemed safe to sell. but if beretta wants to sell the same gun, but an m92 in chrome, then they have to get the chrome one tested just like the black one. alot of companies are not willing to do this,

and basically its the reason we cant get the other variations of desert eagle, such as black nickel, gold, Copper plated and the other novelty finishes. you can still get one legally by other means of transfer, just not from the store.

as for the 50 caliber Desert eagles. they are not directly available in stores anymore. but it is perfectly legal to buy a .44 desert eagle, and convert it using the .50 caliber barrel sold in the same store. laws are stupid huh?

here's the california safe handguns roster
