    STI Spartan question

    Hi all,

I have seen a bunch of CA shooters with STI's, but can't find em on the CA approved list. Is there an alternate name for the company or something?

I would really like to pick one up.

    Thanks!

The STI's you have seen where probably either purchased when they where on the list, also they could have been brought into the state via the LEO exemption of the roster or people moving into CA with them. The only other exmption is if you have a son or father in another state they can gift you one.

the closest you could get to a STI spartan that's on the list would be the RIA Target/Match. the STI uses armscor frames, barrel and slides with STI internals.

Spartan made in Phillipines with Philippine parts and just checked by STI when they are imported. Better to go with a cal-legal Kimber custom II (big article in new COMBAT HANDGUNS)

The Spartans do NOT have Philippine made internal parts. The parts are shipped from STI and then assembled and fitted in the Philippines. Only parts Philippines are the frame, slide, and barrel.

So.. they're just assembled entirely in the Phillipines with the three most MAJOR parts made there. Thanks. That clears it up.

Late to the party....., I know, but if someone else is looking to purchase this type of pistol in CA. you should really check out Bar-Sto .40 cal. Many of the same parts as STI but better barrel-------IT"S a BARSTO! I have one and it is awesome!
