AR Pistol help - muzzle break

Trying to finish my first AR pistol and have a question. Im using a 10.5 barrel and need to know if it matters what type of break/comp. I have on the barrel for it to function correctly? I like the surefire socom brake, but some say I need something like the noveske kx3 to function correctly. Like I said this is my first build so I don't know it's thats bs or not. Thanks for any positive input.

You don't need a brake (not break - well maybe you need a break from work) or a comp or a worthless flash hider for your pistol to work, but you do WANT a muzzle brake, and not some god awful expensive one, just a standard $28.00 one (YHM) from Rifle Gear.

I just installed a brake on an AR pistol 7.5" sunday morning. I took two AR pistols to the range, one with the brake, the other with its factory flash hider.

I was amazed at the difference in the shot to shot control you get with the muzzle brake versus a flash hider. I literally had no flip with the brake, and no discernable backward recoil component. The Pistol was a bit louder, but not as bad as an AK. I could keep the red dot close to on target (2" at 25 yards) continuosly while shooting one shot per second (rapid fire not allowed at On Target)

So while you may not need a brake, having one will allow you to shoot your AR pistol quicker on target from shot to shot should you need to do so.
I love America for the rights and freedoms we used to have.
