range report: first outing with new G19 gen4

Took my gen4 19 out yesterday for the first time to give it a shake down. Started off with 50 rounds of ZQ1 123gr NATO marked ammo. Ejection patern was really good and strong. It hit the stall wall with authority at about the 4-430 position. Next up was 50 rounds of 147gr winchester black box marked training. Again good consistent ejection bouncing of the stall. Switched to 115gr PMC yellow box. Very weak ammo but ejection stayed about the 4:30 position but did not reach the stall wall. Same performance from 115gr federal brass. I brought a gen 3 19 for comparison and it seemed to have just a little more velocity on spent casings with matching ammo. Basically mimics a 1911 when tuning recoil springs and you go up 2lbs on spring weight. Then I tried carry ammo. 50 rounds of gold dot 124gr standard pressure and 127gr +p+ Ranger. Ejection was great on both loads slamming brass against the wall and behind me. The gen 4 had a 11-2014 build date and has all curgent updated parts (32074 ejector 345 RSA) so in the end I had no brass to face or any malfunctions in the 300+ rounds I put throught it. All and all very pleased. I only have a sample of 1 but hopefully most of the gen4 issues have been resolved. I really do prefer the texture and mag release to the gen3. The RSA I could give or take. This testing was all done with standard capacity mags so I don't have any insight on the 10 round and JHP feeding issue. All JHP functioned perfect with the supplied standard mags.

Glad to hear you had no issues. I sold all my Glocks but you got me thinking of getting a G19 since I still have a bunch of mags lying around.

I have two gen4 19s and a gen4 17, no ejection or any problems with them. I think almost all the current problems are weak wrist and weak ammo related.

By the way your right if it's not a Colt it's a better copy!
Im a warmonger baby, I got blood in my eyes and I'm looking at you.

Good to hear you didn't have issues. Went to Burro this past Saturday with a few new shooters also to break in my G17 Gen 4 and FNX 45. I was shooting new LAX 115gr 9s and 230gr 45s without one hitch and strong ejection patterns. The people I brought up had bought Blazer Brass in both 9 and 45, ran them through the G17 and FNX 45 almost instantly and consistly had FTFs and FTEs.

Thanks guys! And stormvet I'll actually agree with you with the current state of colt. At one time they turned out a great AR15 (6920LE) that was as close to milspec as one could legally own. But that's a story for another day! Lol
