Issue with Springfield Loaded 9mm ~ experts please chime in

1911 day at the range for me yesterday.
I set up a small IDPA course and started with my .45 then switched to the Loaded 9mm.
I shoot 4 or 5 magazines (Wilson Combat 10 round) and all is well, gun is quite accurate.
On the next mag change, the slide slams closed when I push the mag release.
Happens again about three times, and the slide stops locking back after the last round fired.
Pretty sure you're going to say it's magazine related, but why it never did this before and why the first 4-5 mags ran smoothly perplexes me a little.
Ammo was 115 gr American Eagle.
Gun and mags are fairly new, maybe 450-500 rounds fired tops.

    Thoughts?

Mag follower is not moving up high enough to push the stop fully into the slide notch.
Possibilities: Dirty mag, weak spring, follower sticking.

AE is fairly dirty ammo, so I'd suspect that might have something to do with it. I've used the Wilson ETMs in 9mm with good results (tough to get that last round in), but I did have a bent ejector after a day of shooting (+/-800rds).
My pistol (Colt Gold Cup Elite 9mm, worked on by Cylinder and Slide)went back to Cylinder and Slide (for that and a few other issues) with both my Tripp Research mags (my preferred/go to mag) and the Wilson ETM to ensure proper fit, feed, and function.
Take the slide off, put a unloaded mag in, and see how things look.
I think Ojisan has given you a good analysis of what's going on there. I know that the Wilson ETMs have a different profile than the stock SA mags (Metalform?).

I had the problem of the slide not locking back on multiple magazines, the problem was the slide lock itself. I replaced it.

I read about people having issues with Wilson 47d mags in springfield's on a couple different forums.

I've been researching mags since I ordered a lightweight operator. It looks like the wilson ETM mags, tripp and checkmate industries are GTG.

I imagine it's the same for 9mm mags

1911 noob here, im about ready to pull-the-trigger on my FIRST 1911, either going to be a Springfield TRP or Kimber Warrior… I know that the magazines are critical for function on a 1911 and want to stock up before i get my gun… read a lot about the wilson combat mags, are these the ones i need to buy for these particular guns??? thanks Bruce:)

Before trading up to my TRP I had a full size SS Loaded. Bought 3 Wilson Combat mags with it and never had a hitch. I just recently sold the Loaded and went with a Stainless TRP. Have not had a chance to shoot it yet but today, in prep for doing initial cleaning session, I starting going over...

I have had to re spring several of the WC 1911 mags for that very issue. If the slide stop is pivoting freely, it's the mag spring.

                Dark Jedi,

The mags I was using are Wilson ETM's.

                Slide stop looks fine.

Disassembled mags, only very slightly dirty.
Upon inspection, the problem may lie with the plastic follower.
When pressing the follower down only pressing on the front of the follower, it tilts and binds (jams) until substantial more pressure is added, then the follower slides down the magazine tube.
The Metalform mags with metal followers also tilt when pressed downward on the front of the follower, but easily slide down the magazine with no binding whatsoever.
That's all I can come up with.

Time to number the magazines and return to the range for evaluation.
                Thanks for your input!

May I ask what springs you replaced the stock springs with?

Magazine spring, 12 coils, .042 wire diameter, chrome silicon. Used in 10R-9MM-RG, 7R-45-WO, 7R-45-RO.

                      Thanks for the info.

Springs are cheap enough, ordered one for each ETM mag.
Also ordered two mags to try, belated Christmas present to myself

                        It's the mags.

You'd be better off, for reliable function, with the Dawson or the Tripp 9mm magazines
