    Pistol Reloading and Target Holes

I've handloaded swcutters and wcutters for my 45 acp and 38 spcl. I went to the range expecting some nice neat holes. Instead, the bullets made messy holes worse than I've ever seen. I used low powder charges - is that why I'm not getting clean holes in my targets? What's up?

How low of a powder charge? Do you have a chrono? Maybe the bullets are yawing. When shooting SWCs in my 1911s I end up with nearly perfect paper-punch type holes.

Yeah with SWC and WD you should get a nice round hole. Sounds like you are key-holing. What grain bullet, what kind of powder and how much in what kind of gun? 1911?
