I want to buy a Smith and Wesson Model 49 Bodyguard on gunbroker, obviously it has to made in 1965 or before so I can transfer it here to CA, so i need help dating it before i buy it.

The serial number is J2057xx

Well, BGs are pretty small so a steady diet of regular .38 as opposed to +p is probably best until you at least take it out a couple times and show it that you're a good guy. This is the best part of the relationship with the BG and you should really enjoy it.
