This. A gun with holster wear or wear at the muzzle would go at the lower end. No wear except a distinct turn line would be at the upper end. A box or a gun with no turn line would be more. Location is also a significant factor as these guns appeal to a limited market; they sell fast in the Bay Area or So Cal.

I would like one; it would be great to go with my 1911. The 45 ACP versions seem less common than the 45 LC versions. I've come across a few of the 45 LC versions but don't want to reload another caliber.

Well, the Standard Catalog of Smith & Wesson, 3rd Ed., 2006, says $400-$550. With inflation since the date of publication and the California premium for an off-roster handgun, you might add $200-$300. On the other hand, I would guess that revolvers in autoloader calibers (e.g. 9mm and .45 ACP), would be slightly discounted because of the need for moon clips (which I think are inconvenient). I think it's challenging to estimate prices for older handguns in California because the market is so thin. I've seen "asked" prices for essentially the same gun vary $300 from one month to the next. It depends in part on how long the seller is willing to list the gun and continue to "bump" it from day to day. I've seen sellers list what I thought were overpriced off-roster handguns for six months or more. But if the seller is willing to play the waiting game, they can probably find a buyer willing to buy an overpriced gun eventually. Competitively priced guns, on the other hand, go within a matter of hours, with 2nds and 3rds lining-up.

And they've been hanging out there for awhile. One of them, posted in Oct or early Nov, is a re-post of a gun originally posted in June or July IIRC. IMHO overpriced, but that's not to say they won't find a buyer. Just indicative of the variability in pricing such guns in the California marketplace. Two months ago, I bought a beautiful Smith Model 19-4 with a 6" barrel in .357 for $575. Since then, I've seen the same gun listed for $300 more.
