In Glock armorer school they specifically caution it's the number one part to break. We do yearly inspections on all duty guns, and just replace the trigger spring every year since it's a $1 part. They're rated to last 10k rounds. We put about 2500-3000 rounds through each gun a year.

This is why Glock is my handgun of choice. The AK of handguns.

I have my local Glock armorer check out my plastic pistols every 3k rounds or so to hopefully prevent this, and check the windshield wipers and rotate the tires...

Also, I will point out I previously bought a full size, used .357 sig glock. I put ~ 9000 rounds through it and the recoil spring went out as indicated by some decent metal on metal dings in the locking block. Now keep in mind I'm a glock armorer and this is exactly as the pistol is designed. Recoil springs rated to be relaxed after 5000 rounds, and if the spring fails the locking block will absorb the damage from the barrel to protect the frame. Now again, I bought a used pistol with unknown round count, in an extremely high pressure caliber, them put 9000 rounds on a part designed to last 5000 rounds and was instantly thinking "WTF spring? You are a POS!"

I don't know why but I felt this was relevant to this conversation. It is New Years and I've had a cocktail.

I had to put a locking block in my m&p after about 6k. It worked fine, but had grooves worn in. Its not a glock, but still. Making 6000 explosions in a hand held device and only doing a few bucks in damage is pretty incredible.

yea, and the part was aftermarket. reliability seems to be a thing of the past.

What kind of plastic pistols are you talking about?
Pretty nice of a Glock armorer to check out non-Glock guns for you.
