    Springfield Range Officer

So who has the Springfield Range Officer in .45? Fill me in on the good, the bad, your overall opinion? I'm pretty much sold on it from my research ...just wanting to get some input from those CGers that have had some hands on experience. conveniently my 1 in 30 is up in an hour and a half so just in time for my last SSE slot tomorrow morning. Getting a hell of a deal on it if i decide to pull the trigger(lol)

Get it and sell it to me I've got the Rance Officer Compact in .45 and a Loaded in .45 and they are both terrific guns. Springfield's warranty service is also some of the best in the industry if needed. The only thing that bugs me about the RO is that almost all I have seen come with the target sites but I think they also made them with combat sites. If you do get it and decide you don't like it you should have no problem at all selling it. Good luck with your decision.

I couldn't find the compact in time, so that's why i focused in on the standard lol

Hickok45 has a good video on the range officer.

I love my SA RO (with LOK grips), the only bad thing is that .45 costs more to shoot vs .40 and 9

I wish the front strap was checkered. Slide to frame fit is tight. The front sight is black which takes getting used to. Bomar style rear sight has some sharp edges but its not a carry gun for me.

Here's my first 2 shots ever with the RO at 15 yards, I've had 5 shot groups make a nice clover leaf at 15 yds (on a good day, I have bad days also)

The SA RO is basically a blued SA loaded target, less the ambi safety. Like others pointed out, the slide fits tight. The accuracy is amazing.

The RO also lacks the FCS. Don't like them on my Loaded and wish I could get rid of them.

RO is one of the finest 1911s in its price range. Get it.

I think the RO is a great buy but I'm not a fan of adjustable rear sights.

You can get rid of them...SACS.

get it! you won't be disappointed. I got the compact and lightweight operator for my last 2 sse's. I really like the smooth slides of the RO pistols and non-ambi thumb safeties.
I hate front slide serrations! hit me up if you decide that you don't like it, i'll buy it.

have you had this done? if so how did it turn out. not sure how it would blend w/ the rest of the slide.

I've seen photos and to me it looks terrible. Just picture the end of the slide ground smooth to the depth of the serations.

They are usually called carry or hi power cuts.... some examples:

That's it, hi power cut, the term escaped me. To me it just doesn't look natural. I'm sending mine back to SACS in a few months for a new finish and might see if they can just smooth out the FCS so they are not so sharp.
