    Probably did something stupid

Had a blast at BLM yesterday, spent the whole morning and afternoon blowing off rounds. Naturally my Springfield XD came back very dirty and gritty, I tried cleaning it with oil based products, etc. I read online that you can use hot boiling water to clean it down with dawn dish soap. Worked great on the metal slide ( although flash rust appeared went away after oiling). I noticed the polymer lower has a bowed appearance when you lock the slide the rear?

Maybe this is just normal XD slop? Maybe I'm being paranoid to think the heat would deform the lower?

You mean like Glock pignose? Neither of my XD's are like that?

Yeah, Pic below. Seems just like the front portion of the lower is angled upwards. I don't feel any noticeable difference.

It's almost inconceivable that 200+ degrees would have any effect on it whatsoever, but there you have it.

Use gunscrubber next time. Takes everything off fast!

i guess the big question is whether or not you have a previous pic of your pistol that you can compare it to.

              my XDs doesn't exhibit bowing.

Same pistol for sale in the link? Joking...kind of. Never understood the dishwasher thing, but I've heard guys do it. Looks like it may curve upwards a bit. Shoot it!
Yes I took the pic, no I didn't go swimming!

It's obviously defective. What time do you want to meet so I can take it off your hands? I'll use the parts and scrap the frame. Don't worry, I'll respect it.

Boiling water and dish soap. That's pretty silly.. Do you really want water hiding in with all the carbon steel springs?

There are many videos on youtube that teaches you how to fix this with your hairdryer. If it doesn't affect function I would probably leave it alone.
