Where did all the 9mm HST go?

I typically keep a box or two of Federal HST 9mm, 147 grain.
Due to a small water leak, one of my boxes got soaked. Fortunately it was just one box. Even if it's still good to shoot, I would not trust it as a defensive round. I stopped by 3 Walmart's and a Turners today...I couldn't find any of the 50 round boxes of HST. Anyone know where this stuff has gone?
I was about to place an order online, but $25 for the box plus $10 for shipping is steep.

Consider picking up a water-proof ammo can as well.

I just picked some up at Target Sports USA for $26.99. I bought 6 boxes and the shipping was $15.84. They had them for a couple of days as I checked back a couple of days later that they were still in stock.

I just bought a few boxes of 45acp HST for $29.99.

I tried buying from SGAmmo and I'd get their "in stock" email notification and I'd logon 10 mins later and they would be out of stock.

        Good luck.

Thanks guys. Apparently online is the only way to get 50 round boxes of HST now. I'm surprised..two years ago they were on every Walmart's shelves.

HST is my No1 carry ammo, but yeah, I barely ever see it on the shelves. Luckily, Winchester Ranger T and PDX1 seems to be plentiful and seems to test damn near as well as HST.

There was some at the Perris Walmart the other day, not sure where your location is.

Was this the 147gr or 124?

The 124 has been okay to get. 147s have been unobtanium lately. Sgammo got some in and it was gone within minutes. The 124 at least lasted a few hours.

In 9mm, I only trust 147gr HST for SD, but in 45 Ill accept 230 gr Speer GDHP as a suitable (although marginally inferior) substitute. About $50 cheaper per thousand rounds.

To the OP, if you only keep 50-100 rounds of SD ammo, you are not prepared as this situation has clearly demonstrated to you.

Buy once, cry once. One big (online) ammo purchase every year is a hell of a lot cheaper than monthly (or weekly) trips to Walmart or your LGS. And some of the stuff you buy might last a lot longer than 1 year btw.

Both, typically 147 grain was difficult to find but possible.

Agreed completely. Unfortunately money has been tight lately. In this case I am glad I didn't have a large stash. We were remodeling the home and I had left the "extra boxes" of ammo on the floor (yes I know I need more ammo cans, which I've just purchased). Had I owned more boxes, those would have probably gotten wet too. Next time I'll use the ol noggin and keep the hd rounds safe in a can.
