Where to transfer pistols that were DROS-ed as SSE in the south bay (SF bay area)?

I was told at one store that they don't do PPT transfer for SSE pistols unless it's in the original SSE condition, i.e. with single shot magazine, etc. I'm not sure if there is legal basis for this (I think not) but I don't want to argue with the store policy.

My question here is has anyone done any SSE pistol PPT recently in the south bay area? If yes, at which FFL? I prefer gun stores where I can just walk in and get it done. Thanks in advance.

[Edit] I probably wasn't clear enough in my original message. In this case I'm talking about a regular PPT that doesn't involve SSE conversion. The pistol was already DROS-ed as SSE pistol to the original owner and now the original owner wants to sell it via PPT. The transfer doesn't have to be this year. Please also comment on the PPT requirement for pistols that were originally acquired via SSE. My understanding is that it is legal for owners to convert them back and sell them as non-single-shot pistols but if I'm wrong I'd like to know.

I probably wasn't clear enough. It's a regular PPT, no SSE conversion involved in this transfer.

            Missed the ppt part.
I was told by 3 different shops SSE had to be picked up before the 31st.
            I can't buy anything, so I didn't care much.
But I don't see how a shop would know it was sse'ed if you bring it in, ppt that is. The state will know. But the new owner gets a clean non SSE gun.

The rules for regular ppt have not changed. PPT can be done next year too. I don't see the problem that OP is trying to address.

Sickboybrad: some lgs, not all, are drosing sse through dec 31 with pickup by Jan 31. There is a thread in this forum listing known deadlines for specific lgs.

Yes, I believe it's a store policy or an individual's understanding or just wanting to be safe. Thanks for the confirmation. It's probably the period of time when things aren't exactly clear for the stores. The LGS that told me that is actually one of my favorite stores. Hopefully after a while when things are more clear they'll remove that requirement.

What LGS is spreading that FUD? I've never run into a prob;em doing a PPT on an off roster firearm, which is all a SSE gun is.

The roster has dropped from 2k pistols to around 800 in the last two years. Are they saying they can't do a PPT on the 1200 that recently dropped off as well?

Total BS, just a lame and untruthful excuse not to do a legal PPT.

They have no way of knowing whether you acquired the pistol by ppt yourself, so why should they care how it is transferred in the future? I think I would find a new FFL.

I collect Military Arms and enjoy shooting in local matches. I also collect older Lever Actions, especially those chambered in odd/old cartridges. If you have a nice old Winchester or Marlin in 25-20, 32-40, 38-55, 40-60, 45-70, etc etc, please PM me and we can work out a deal.

Exactly. There is no way for them to look up the disposition of the pistol when it was transferred to you.

I wouldn't step foot in that store again, even if they were next door.

                              Yup, sounds like they're lazy.
If they really don't know, I would look for another shop.
