    Ak Brake

Ive seen this done on some ak pistols years ago and finally got around to doing one myself for a draco

    2 reasons
I like how its a little shorter then my flash hider ive been running
and I like how it looks too

I bought an amd 65 brake off ebay
put it in a chop saw and shortened it
attached it to my drill and smoothed out the edge on my belt sander, then media blasted it and reblued

    flash hider

no negative effects using the brake
still able to hit targets 100+ yards away

did some videos will see if I get any cool flame photos

of course real test would be indoor ranges to see the best flames

        I like how it looks

Some like to think the ak pistol is not accurate, but thats why I use the sling and brace it away from me
not only does it hold pretty steady, I can aim quite well
Now if I didnt have such a thick tritium front sight on it I could probably do much better but it totally blocks any precision viewing
Groups pretty nice shooting into the dirt rapid fire

we had to make fun of this guy with what I like to call the chick lean

he even managed to take a nice scope hit to his nose and eye too using a 308 rifle

But he had fun so thats all that counts

not to hard to find new or even on ebay
and just chop it smaller even a hand grinder with cut off wheel can do that

                      amd 65 brake
just make sure to get the short type, there is a longer one ive seen too

Very nice work. The finish looks great! Hot or cold blue?

3 year old cold blue gel I had laying around in a tube
2 coats then oiled it heavily

when shooting I could of sworn the inside was turning white, but maybe it was the lighting it was super bright that day

when I went to clean it, it was black inside just wiped it down
bluing held up never tried cold blue on a part that would get so much heat like that so wasnt sure how it would do

only reason I did the entire part in cold blue was when I tried to hold it by hand to spin the end to get that nice beveled finish I used my belt sander fence to hold it, and wore a colored line into the metal
Originally I was just going to blue the cut

so I blasted the whole thing raw, but gave it a nice satin finish I really like the texture and blued the entire piece

Whatever the stock finish was, most likely hot blue was really nice and even and shiny

I did my first ak cold blue
but it was the liquid stuff so took alot more bottles

I think when I redid the receiver the last time I had tried the gel stuff
I like it way better because it will sit there and get the metal alot darker using less product and wont run off

even my draco I sanded off that awful finish it came with and cold blued it too I like the smoother metal not that rough finish it came with
turned out a nice dark color and had that nice metal smell I like
