I'd shoot it before all else, trying several types of ammo & various hollowpoints. Figure it what it & you like for it. Glad to hear it's not a matter of bling, so common nowadays. Merry Christmas.
Yes I took the pic, no I didn't go swimming!

As others have said, I'd just go with a sight change and internal (contact points) polish until you've pumped a few thousand rounds through it.

You'll know exactly what you'll want to change by then, or leave as is.

personally I added grip tape (skateboard deck tape) on my all my Gen3 Glocks' grips, little too slick as is for me. Additionally extended slide stops on all, little easier to manipulate.

I also undercut all my Glocks' trigger guards lightly with a dremel (), right where it meets the grip, more comfortable contact with my middle finger underneath under recoil... I certainly wouldn't recommend trying this yourself without some practice.

Mags, lots of ammo, and shoot the gun more and get better!

G21s are great guns and lots of fun to shoot.

For function and reliability? Is this a trick question? Its a Glock. Buy ammo and put it through the gun. And I would not do any monkey-ing around with the trigger. It will smooth out just fine with shooting and you'll get the benefit of learning to use it.

I've been shooting Glocks coming up to about 20 years. Wow. In my experience, the trigger *might* smooth out, but the one thing that doesn't improve is the trigger pull weight.

Posters in this thread have suggested the right formula, in my opinion:

              1) Night sights (Meprolight, Trijicon, or Glock brand, your choice)

              2) Assuming this isn't your home defense gun, I suggest a 3.5# factory connector

              3) If you have a Glock with a serrated trigger, I'd recommend swapping it out for a smooth faced factory trigger

              4) $.25 trigger job after you replace your connector or trigger (this is fairly straightforward but take your time if you haven't done this before)

              5) Factory extended slide stop

To me, those basic affordable mods make Glocks into perfect target shooting handguns. Note that these suggestions guarantee you end up with a "normal" stock looking Glock for the most part, but the overall shooting experience will be greatly enhanced.

On my Glock 21, what I did was replaced the factory guide rod with a black steel Wolff. Its personal preference.

I went to youtube and studied how to polish the pertinent mating parts. Also bought a few spare springs and spare firing pin sleeve. That's it.

Yeah op, if you want a gun to spend a bunch of money on modifications for, get a 1911 instead. Gaston glock wasn't aiming for "perfection", but glocks have (almost) everything you need, and nothing you don't. (Gen 4 might have stuff you don't need).
Show your friends your 1911's and your enemies your glocks!

Say no to posers & wannabes.

Gen 2's are SWEET! I wouldn't change anything. One exception is the sights if its for HD/SD. If its a range gun I actually prefer the stock sights.
