    Quick Draw mechanics (holsters)

    On this one

Its fairly obvious, the technique is somewhere around unlocking the strap while your pinky, ring, middle fingers hook the pistols' grip ....

    What about this here ...

Do you press the part of the strip that is against your body with the side of your thumb, and pull the weapon away from your body while holding the grip to unlock and then draw the weapon out horizontally ?

Also, any IDF holsters users here ?

    Thanks.

The first holster seems slower. I can't see how you'd incorporate unbuttoning the strap into your draw smoothly.

The second is pretty standard. As you said, you unbutton with your thumb as you reach down and grip the gun. Then you draw straight up, pivot forward at the hip, and meet your support hand in front of your chest.

No comment on your choices but I just bought three holsters from IDF. One is fine, the second is acceptable but the third, even though I ordered the correct model and they shipped the correct model, my Shield barely fits into it and once in, the fit is so insanely tight, the holster can only be removed from the pistol using channel locks!

I have called IDF twice and e-mailed twice with ZERO response of any kind. Done. I will not deal with vendors who sell a substandard product, then ignore their customers. Buy from a company that makes a quality product and takes care of their customers. I also bought a Bullhide Belt and a CrossBreed SuperTuck recently. Both had great customer service and their products are very good quality and work well. Forget IDF, they suck.

I guess it depends upon your definition of "quick draw" and the type of purpose the holster will serve. I don't care for #1 under any circumstances but I have many years using the thumb-strap style of #2 and I obviously would have no problem carrying one.

I have no experience with IDF, but their multi-use (3 postion) holster has two too many positions. Holsters, for me, are a one position proposition.

As far as quick goes (with decent security) look at a quality kydex holster.

Quick to me means kydex and no strap.

I can hold this one upside down and shake it and the pistol stays put, but when I draw from the belt the tension is perfect (fast).

Good luck. Not sure how you guys carry your pistols in your middle back. Those ride higher than a giraffes Azz

Try a clip draw. It's cheap and deep conceal. No button, strap, crap. Etc

I'll send you one for free.
